Yeah even I'm curious as to what happened with this...  I can't believe that paypal has a disput with a buyer and charges that dispute to the seller.

I've been wit PayPal for nearly 8 years now.  Never had problems like this...

ViperMan,

Basically, I made one last call to Paypal to try and reason with them.  No go.  Couldn't get it through their heads that the buyer wasn't contesting the purchase or the delivery.  He paid for it by instant transfer and they charged his credit card ( whether they had the right to, I don't care ).  So as it sits, they're out the money.  My account has a negative $120 or so balance and is going to stay that way.

Do you have links to credit cards or bank accounts?  They may try to charge those accounts, as they did the buyer.  I'd really make sure you're not going to do yourself greater harm by leaving the account in the negative - not that I'm arguing your intention.  I'm really surprised by PayPal's reaction on this one.

They can't legally take money from my bank account / credit card.  Besides, my credit card is a debit card drawing on my bank account that has little to no money in it now that Paypal is throwing a fit.

Took them long enough,  finally got a collection letter.  I told them the same thing I told Paypal, "I dispute the validity of this debt" and not to contact me.

Bet they don't read it either.

I don't do the pay pal. Nothing wrong with cashiers checks or money orders. That way worked for a long time before Pay Pal came along.

Right
Don't leave any money in your paypal account.  I had a couple of hundred bucks in there once and sold several things over a week or two on Ebag.  One airhead paid twice for an item ($17) and the next day complained to Paypal that I defrauded her because I didn't let her know of her mistake.

There was a list of things bought and sold on my account as long as my arm and I was supposed to notice I was $17 over within 24 hours of her mistake

They froze my account for a week trying to sort it all out
Now I don't keep any more then five bucks in there ever.  I have a dedicated credit card that I can cancel the moment there is any trouble and a dedicated bank account that is not the same bank my personal accounts are in.  Whenever I get more then $100 or so in the bank I pull it out of the ATM cash.

live and learn, that's what I found out

Now you're stuck using them if you buy anything on e bay.

E bay is changing so that money orders and checks won't be permitted any longer.

Checks and money orders no longer allowed: Beginning in late October, we will no long allow checks or money orders as payment methods on eBay. Only approved electronic methods will be allowed. In January 2009, all accepted payment methods will be integrated into eBay Checkout

Couldn't agree more, they have you over a barrel.  And when you do have a problem, they do nothing.  There's got to be a way to get around the Paypal only crap!

I haven't heard that but I believe you. With all the new IRS regulations coming in 2010 there has to be a way for them to charge income taxes so they will do it through pp.

 :iagree: PAYPAL SUCKS!!!

I had a problem with paypal that many SELLERS should look out for.  :nono: I sold about $200.00 worth of parts to a customer. He was pissed off about a prior sale and desiced to dispute the sale almost 20 days after delivery. Words where exchanged and he filed a dispute with paypal. Upon doing this the guy put a very rude letter (AS IF THAT WAS GOING TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING ) and one of the 4 parts into a box and send it to me with a tracking number claiming to paypal that all the parts where inclosed. Paypal thinking it was all the items and not just a rude letter and a $15.00 part, refuned the customer the $200.00  :2cents: . I have been working to recover the money for 2 months with no luck. As a tracking number was supplied and showed delivery they don't care and told me to seek funds from the customer.  :screwy: Who is MIA. and eating up the fact he got away with it.   :eek4: :puke:

SO BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!!!  :nono:

I'm curious as to whether Paypal can remove funds from the bank account you have linked to them?  Or can they only take money you have in your Paypal account?
