What type/brand of fuel filter are you using on your 340 engines? Post pictures if possible. Until last summer I was using a fram plastic fuel filter. I replaced it with a glass filter that has a replaceable filter element.

Hi Hood,Have you driven with the new glass filter yet buddy ?
I only use the steel canisters , glass can break & plastic can melt
Those glass filters suck IMO.Especially the Spectre ones.Get that out of there, or keep a fire extinguisher ready! I use Jegs billet filters. Considering some of the costs of billet filters, they are reasonable.
I used it last summer driving about 300 miles total.
The reason i ask is because that perticular fuel filter can be mounted backwards un-knowingly........... the filter should be full of fuel while sitting their and also when running. A steel canistar is the recomended filter to use or a billet filter with a gores center. Try turning the fuel filter around and see if it will hold fuel better and flow better. I have had expeirance with these filters and have found some brands to be marked for flow back-to-front just change it around and get back to me with a picture please.
They put the Mr. Gasket glass filter on my car when the new motor was installed, but I replaced it with the Mr. Gasket metal inline filter. Got it at Advance Auto Parts for $7 and it's clearly marked as to which end is the inlet. It's this one:http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MRG%2D2526&N=700+4294852562+115&autoview=skuMJS73
