Brake questions

This is mainly dealing with an A-Body, but I figured that someone would know the answer.  My father is interested in changing his master cylinder on his 74 Dart.  He was wondering if there were any other cars (maybe newer) that had a power brake booster that could be easily found or purchased and swapped over to his.  He does not want to spend a bunch of money so anything aftermarket is not even a option for him.  He has the disc/drum setup.

Any info would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Clinton, a-body 73-74-75-76 should all work, granted this is off the top of my head.  :icon16:

not usre about the question , do you want a booster as the car is manual brakes now or do you want a more modern booster / master ?

Sorry for the confusion guys.  My father is looking for a way to put a booster on his manual brake Dart.  He is not real picky on which version as long as it can be found fairly cheap.  So, he was wondering if it is possible to find one on a more modern car since there are almost no 70’s cars left in the local junkyards.  Maybe an 80’s car???  He was also trying to avoid the aftermarket kits because of their pricing and availability.

not sure what will interchange , the later boosters into the 80s used an alum, master & 2 bolt mount instead of 4 , you need a booster with the same linkage under dash too

I know that there is an adaptor for the 2 bolt mount, so any posibilities with that?

I can only reference factory application type stuff so I'm of no help w/newer setups. 73-to early 76. Seems they made a change on 12/2/75. BUt I would think if you swapped master cyl and all even the later prduction 76 would work.

I'm driving a'98 Dodge full size van. It's booster is of similar design to my challengers, just a little thicker measures 10 3/4" . The brake rod connects directly to the pedal unlike the challenger which has a pivoting mechanism between the pedal & rod.  If you need any pics or measurements let me know, NAPA partspro has several pictures PN NBB5474415

Sounds interesting, but I think he was hoping for more of a direct swap, but I will mention it to him.

Just wanted to give an update:

My father decided to keep manual brakes, but he did find something interesting.  He used the adaptor for the 2 bolt mount along with an 80's Dodge van aluminum master cylinder.  It was a direct swap and he says that the brakes are a lot better than before.  The new master cylinder looks like the aftermarket one that Mopar sells, but it is a lot cheaper.

He told me that it swapped right over without any modification.    I am thinking about doing this to my Challenger one of these days.
