Moderators - I have a plea...
« on: June 22, 2008 - 10:33:37 PM »
Moderators and Members of Cuda-Challenger.com,

I have been an active member of this board for quite some time, and had even attempted to join this board nearly a year prior to my actual join date.  However, due to an unknown glitch, I was denied access.  I tried back later once I obtained my Barracuda, and have loved every minute of my membership.

I am also an inactive member on a club named 2gStratus.org.  I joined it shortly after purchasing my 2001 Dodge Stratus.  I still visit the board occasionally.

My plea is this:

Since 1994 I have been an absolute fanatic of the Dodge Viper.  I still vividly remember seeing my first one as we drove past the parking lot of a dentists office.  I also remember being passed by one on the highway while in High School.  I was simply in awe of them.  On 2GStratus.org, my member name is "ViperMan" - a nickname I awarded to myself in the late 1990's.  When I went to register with Cuda-Challenger.com, "ViperMan" was already taken.

Due to my recent employment "boost," and with the amazing prospects of a new position in Indiana next year, I have begun to research the feasibility of actually buying a Dodge Viper.  The odds seem to be quite favorable.  In fact, I "won" my first ebay auction for a red, 2002 Dodge Viper RT/10 roadster in Texas at the price of $32,100.  The reserve was not met (which is why I bid - I knew I couldn't afford it!) but I had hoped to run the price up a bit to help the guy sell it - his buy-it-now price was the most reasonable I had seen at $39,900.

The thought of finally owning one of these amazing cars led me to look into things here a bit on CC.C.

The member "ViperMan" joined this community on July 16th, 2005.  He (or she) remained on the board for a total of 37 seconds, and apparently never visited this community again.  They have contributed exactly 0 (zero) posts.

It would be my safe bet that nearly 3 years later, this individual has probably forgotten all about this community.

My plea is simple - deactivate this unused account and allow myself to adopt the member name "ViperMan."

I can make the following assurances:

1)  I will never, ever get rid of my Barracuda unless and only unless it is to allow me to afford ANOTHER 'Cuda.

2)  If and when I purchase my Viper, I will still remain very active on this community, as I absolutely love you guys (and I've heard the Viper communities are rather snotty.)

3)  In the highly unlikely event that the original ViperMan member returns to this board, I will relinquish the member name back to them and choose a new, unused name.

4)  Should the conversion to another member name wipe my post count clean, I will accept this in the interest of having the title bestowed upon me.

5)  This request is in no way, shape, or form an attempt to follow the footsteps of "Cuda Guy" by hoping that a Viper would be restored and donated to "Viper Man."  NOT that I'm one to kick a gift horse in the mouth!  :)

If this is even remotely possible, and be it the will of our earnest and dedicated moderators, then I say "Thank You" with my utmost appreciation.

Sincerely,

Jeff "73Barracuda, Twenty Minutes, ViperMan" Knapp

Before they inaugurate you "Viperman" you'll need to get a Viperman outfit.
Remember CP's?

Has a nice ring to it: "ViperMan". You can change it in our account related settings section. No Admin needed to do it, that is all Admin can do anyhow. Once you register you can not change your original username you selected and IF you change you must always remember your original user name as when logged out, you will have to use that name. Just part of the Simple Machines forum software.......but what do I know...... ;)

Jeff,

Sometimes your too much bro!!!  Viperman!!!  I know they changed Gordons name to 426HEMI a while back so I dont think it should be an issue unless Ross or one of the mods is realated to the "real" ( :roflsmiley: ) Viperman.  Good luck bro you got my vote.    :2thumbs:

Well he's had three years to respond!  :)  Then again, what's another week?

I thought I'd share the ebay auction that I won:

I'm "psuviper" on ebay, and AOL Instant Messenger as well.  I created that name before starting college.  In fact PSUViper was my member name on the 2GStratus club until they had a massive failure, forcing all members to create new accounts.  I took ViperMan after the board crash, and offered to return it to the original ViperMan, but never heard from anyone.

I swear people just find sites like this, register the popular names, and then disappear.  I think it's unfair to people who really take their online personas seriously.  I spent days researching my Xbox 360 membername "Vipera Raddei" - a species of poisenous Rock Vipers known to Turkey, Iran and Iraq.

Daytona,

Every Viper owner I've ever met has been a kind hearted, sharing individual.  I met Skip Thomas at two separate Viper Days events.  He was the first person to let me sit in a Viper - his own - and gave me a ride around Carolina Motorsports Park at my first event.  He remembered me at the second event, and hooked me up with one of his friends who gave me and a friend of mine rides around the infield at Pocono Speedway in PA.

I've only heard "through the grapevine" about the general attitude at some of the Viper and "General Mopar" forums through other members at 2GStratus.org and Stratusphere.org.

Jeff

P.S.  Sorry for putting this in the wrong forum, 4C.

I think you should be "Mr. 20 minutes."  But since you are going to be moving anyway you would have to change your screen name.  If Cudaguy could be Cudaguy before he got his Cuda, why can't you be Viperboy  oops Viperman.   :poopoke:
