Clean it off, buff it out and there ya go.

You are only original once. I know you patched it. That is cool.

I agree but I just did one that color and, well, you know how it is.  I kind of like to mix things up...

Okay, I guess I'll really start this thread now by posting more pics of the car.  I'l put them in chronological order from when I started to work on it.

The work starts - first thing I had to do was pull the fenders to do a little beating on them.  As you could see in the before pic, the driver side fender wass pretty banged up. When I pulled the fenders, I was glad to see that the door pillars were extremely solid and the frame rails were in great shape.

I did find while working on it that the driver side door and quarter panel had both been replaced.  This must have been done in the early years of it's existance.  The quarter panel came off a grren car and the door came off a Road Runner.  At the same time the rocker panel was also repaired - very poorly.  There wass about a 1/2 inch of bondo in the upper part of rocker where the sill plate goes.  I ground al of it out to see what the heck was going on.  That is when I found out about the replaced quarter panel.  I attacked the rocker and quarter panel and ended up removing about 2 gallons of unnecessary body filler.  The best news was I found NO RUST under all of that crap.  It was just a pack and slap attempt at getting the body straight.  The end result was a pregnant looking quarter panel.  I did however have some rust repair on the passenger side. I cut the lower quart out and welded in a patch panel.

Well, theis brings us up to date. I am hoping to complete all body work by this weekend and possibly go ahead and paint it Saturday or Sunday.  So I guess I'd better make up my mind on the color...

There is an orange and black one in the Pflugerville, Texas area that looks pretty menacing with the black Go Wing.  I don't normally like orange cars (I am in UT country) but it looks like a really good combination.  We've crossed paths a few times.

I was thinking the same thing!  Geez, I bet it would be cheaper for me to tow my car out to Dallas and trade you some work on your car for the metal work on mine than to have a shop do it here.   :P  Seriously, you're making some astounding progress.  Wish I had that kind of shop to work in.  :violin:

Greg - Thanks for the compliment.  I've been doing this stuff for about 20 years now and kind of got the hang of it  :icon16:  I'm not a full blown professional but just a plugger that knows how to get it done.  Fortunately, I've been blessed with a high heat tolerance and once I get to work on it in the evenings, I can get a lot down in a short period of time.

I wish I was making this kind of progress for a good reason though, my wife & I are selling our house (and my shop) and downsizing our mortgage.  We kind of got in over our heads when we moved out here to TX and are paying the price now (literally).  I am trying to bang this one out to a point where it is sellable to get a little extra cash for the move.  We are due to close on our sale in about 5 weeks, so if I don't get it sold in about 2-3 weeks, I'll have to back burner it to concentrate on packing up and moving the house and the shop.    Fortunately, I've found a couple of shops that I can rent for way less than what the extra cost of this house, land, and shop are running me right now.  The shops I've found are about 1/2 the size of what I have now but I've found that having a bigger shop just allows me to spread out my mess.
