The PVC hose connects to the back of a Holley.  :grinyes:

That's what I get for working from memory.

Trying to tune an old Muscle car on the Internet is like trying to learn to play the guitar over the phone. It prolly won't happen. Preferably get the help of someone local that's demonstrated that ability that will take the time to look at your car and help. The carb is always the first thing that's blamed for problems because it sits right in the middle of the engine and it's the first thing you see when you open the hood, but it's often not the problem.

I'm not looking to tune the car over the internet, I'm just looking for a baseline at which to start and for advice from those that have more experience than me.  I know the carb gets blamed for most driveability complaints when timing or other ignition problems are usually at fault.  I have a pretty idea of where to start and with what I'm doing so, like I said, I really appreciate everyone's advice.

It probably runs poorly when it's cold because the RPM Intake has no heat to the carb base. It pops because it's lean. If the problem goes away when it's hot that's your problem.

,035 with a stock coil , .045 with high output coils < I read somewhere that the benefit is lost after .045 due to increased load on the ign wires

The MSD Blaster 2 is considered to be a high output coil?

I was wondering about two things.  First, if I upgrade to a Blaster coil do I need to upgrade anything else at the same time (cap, rotor, ECU, etc.)?

Also, a hypothetical.  If a Blaster was used and the smaller plug gap was kept, would that burn the plugs out (sooner)?

nothing else needds to be changed to run the blaster coil , get the Vibration one though as the red ones leak if mounted sideways
a smalller gap will make the plugs & wires last longer but reduces the amount of spark exposed to teh fuel /air mix
