70 Cuda Decklid and Rear Valance Questions
« on: June 26, 2008 - 10:02:33 AM »
I am in process of buying some additional parts for my 70 Barracuda and know there were a lot of 70 specific parts for that year and I heard that the 70 rear valance was differennt slightly than the later years.  My question is what about the decklids?  Instead of buying repop, I was going to look for NOS and wondered if any of the decklids would work or is it a 70 only thing.  Any help would be appreciated.  thanks

1970 Deck lids changed at least three times.

What is the SPD of your car?

Is it optioned for a luggage rack or rear spoiler?

Neither, it was just plane jane decklid so that was why I was looking for one with the spoiler cutouts instead of having to hack myself.  I always preferred the NOS stuff so was wondering if I could find later model one to use or had to find 70 with cutouts.  thanks

You have some options then.

The go-wing style spolier came out about mid-1970 model year.

The deck lid with provisions for that spoiler, the AAR spoiler and the luggage rack came out about March of 1970.

The same decklid with cutouts for all three options was used for 1971 on Barracuda models. They are also available new as reproductions I believe?

I found a replacement decklid for my T/A on a 1971 318 Challenger.  :naughty:

The AMD decklid looks alot better than the old crap that has been out for a long time. BUT they are correct for 70-71 and are alot more expensive. like 499.00
