Touchy subject with strong feelings on both sides.    :grinyes:   Neither side is going to sway the others opinion about politics on THIS board.    :grinno:    Soooo,  play nice or this topic will be history.......     :violin:

I for one don't mind.  With the stipulation that it doesn't get personal.  I have strong opinions ( always the right ones ) and enjoy an intelligent debate.  Usually on this board it stays reasonable.

I have no problem with intelligent debate.  But both of those videos are not about intelligent debate; they're about demonizing the "other" side.  Those who engage in such inflammatory commentary or passing it along should realize that it's their own friends and neighbors (and in some cases, family) that they're throwing bombs at.

If someone wants to say to me: "I think that the war in Iraq was and is a good idea because A, B, C, D...I'm willing to listen courteously and debate the issue.  But when someone says that I'm unpatriotic or un-American or don't support our troops (thank you Don and others) because I think the war was a poor choice without offering reasons for support or listening to my thoughts about a subject, that makes my blood boil.

Several of the members of this board have been very supportive of my project.  I'm aware that we may have opposing views on several political issues, but it doesn't keep us from being friends on this board and (if we ever meet) in real life.  I'm sure we'd share some beers and a couple of good laughs and check out each others cars.  The fact that we may have opposing political viewpoints would be irrelevant.  That's why I think that such threads are inappropriate to this board.  :working:  :wavingflag:

I normally voted Republican before I got my current job. But since I've been in my new job working for the government I have recieved a 30% pay cut which was implemented by the Bush administration. They didn't cut my pay until I had already sold my house and moved me to another state making it more of a risk for me to quit my job and go back to where I started. All I see right now is the GOP = Grand Oil Party.

The Congress controls the purse strings in the government. It's been controlled by the Democrats for the last 2 years as gas has went from $2.33 to $4.00. The President either signs or vetos the spending bills. Unless of course GWB signed a special executive order to slash your jobs pay.....

Congress doesn't control the ATC pay scale. GWB put the FAA management in place who was suppose to negotiate our contract. There is some rule or law that says if an agreement is not reached the FAA's last offer on the table is put in as contract. There was only one offer from the FAA. Obama has tried to pass a law to make the FAA go back to the bargaining table. Now I wish there was a party that shared my exact beliefs but there isn't. You can't please everyone and when looking at both sides you have to choose the lesser of two evils.  Right now to me the greater evil is the republican party.

I also understand that everyone has an opinion and that is all that they are opinions.

Yes, and since 1994,the House was controlled by the Republicans and both houses since 2000 - with a Republican president.  During which time the formerly balanced budget went away and the deficit ballooned while Bush failed to veto a single spending bill. Yet there still isn't any money available to do anything because the Bush tax cuts failed to provide the boost in overall tax revenue that was promised from increased investment and because of increased spending on the Iraq war.  That was always a red herring, just as the MWD "intelligence" was with Iraq.  Grover Nordquist's dream is coming true - to "starve the beast": http://www.thetalentshow.org/2005/02/07/how-to-starve-a-healthy-beast/

Pay rates are not set by the Congress, but by the Office of Compensation in the Office of Personnel Management, which is controlled by the executive branch - the presidential administration.  And what does government pay being slashed have to do with the run-up in gasoline prices?  And before anyone says "ANWR", nothing was stopping the all-GOP government from allowing drilling there over the past six years.  Yet, somehow, as soon as the Dems regain power, it's all their fault.

OK, no more politics.  I'll be happy to discuss the matter with anyone by PM, but no more on the board.  :chatting: :working:

i like others here believe this isnt the place to vent ,i dont have an opinion on either side.but i have worked hard my whole life and what it has done for me is leave me with a nice home several cars and a work schedule that lets me spend time with my wife  my customers are republican .and a few democrats show up from time to time looking for a free ride or say i just want a driver but also expect perfect work because their less fortunate than me so i should lower the barr .i think the system we have is perfect because its what ya all voted for .remember hard work separates the winners from the losers.and our system rewards us by what we put into it example tax breaks for the ones that invest in themselves and this country ,and let the rest cry foul .im done and my cream has risen to top of my root beer cheers

To find out the real history of Anwar why not go directly to the source?
http://www.anwr.org/

And if anyone has ANY doubt about how THIS congressional leadership feels about oil, the very thing that powers our economy and the vehicle you have that you so enjoy, watch this. There is no possible way even a severly retarded person could mistake how this man feels and what his agenda is. He would love to take all our carbon producing vehicles (especially the old gas guzzling ones) and put them all in the car crusher, there is no doubt.

Sorry, but what has voting Republican gotten you?

Seriously?  How are you so much better off?

Think of it in terms of what it HASN'T gotten me.  Namely, higher taxes, nationalized health car (or nationalized anything new, for that matter), etc., etc.

How am I better off?  I have more money in my pocket (more of my own money) and more personal freedom.  One need only look at what the (Democrat-controlled) Congress has done in the last 3-1/2 years to figure that out.
