new Wilwoods-- red or black??
« on: June 30, 2008 - 07:30:39 PM »
Trying to decide on the color of caliper to order for my new brakes.
6 piston wilwoods up front on 13 inch rotors and 4 piston out back.
Car is a 70 challenger convert lowered, but not in the weeds with wide tires. Definite pro-touring setup.
Wheels will probably not be chromed or polished. I am leaning towards a shiny black three piece style 18 inch or maybe even a silver.
Car will be black on black and have a red non RT longitudinal strip down the side.
I like the visual of the red calipers, but want them to complement the look of the car. I think the red strip will help with that.
I think black calipers will disappear in the wheel wells.
Thoughts?

Have you picked out a style of wheel yet that you could post a picture of please.

I was thinking if the cailiper is hidden then go red, but it depends on how big the windows in the wheels are. :2thumbs:

If we were voting, I'd go with the red.

This is by no means my short list, they are just some rims I have seen that appeal to me.
I really like gloss black rims, but it can be hard to pull off on a black car. I like multiple thinner spokes versus a tight mesh or a straight 5 spoke design.
Black, silver, polished centers--brushed lip, painted lip, polished lip,--diamond cut edges, the choices are endless.
A lot will depend on the final direction of the car. Will I go chrome bumpers and a mostly stock but lowered look or do I shave the handles, side markers, etc? I like the converted musclecar look that keeps all the original styling on the outside, but updated underneath and inside.

I say red. If you've got a nice brake setup, show it off.

Depends on what you're after, I'll be the odd one out on this. What is your overall theme on the car? Show or hardcore? I'll vote black for hardcore, stealth like......

Black will show less dust.

Red is an extra cost option from Wilwood, btw.

I went with Black.  They don't jump out at you, but if everything else is subtle, then it's just another thing that is interesting to notice while you look at the car  :bigshades:
