    My 'Cuda has 11.5:1 Compression and the highest grade fuel I can buy locally is 91, which octane booster is most effective? I've heard good things about 104, thoughts, comments?

    If you go through the steps to set your car up right for it. E-85 i think is 110 octane? That is if it's in your area...

    In my area 93 octane is $4.25 and 110 octane race gas is $5.59.  With that much compression just run race gas, or a mixture.

    Yea, I live in the SF bay area, so at Sears Point, the local raceway 97 is about $7.50 and I want to actually be able to drive my 'Cuda. Are there any chemicals I can mix into my fuel to boost my octane from 91 to at least 94ish?

    I use the 104 booster and premium gas, If I don't the chally doesn't run quite right.

    Are your heads steel or aluminum?  If aluminum, you might be able to get away with the 91 for mild street driving, although 93 would be preferable.  At least that way you would only need to add the 104 when you want to run it hard.  If your heads are steel, then I would definitely go with the 104 Boost.  From what I have seen it is one of the better additives on the market.

    Toululene is 114 octane and I run it with a mix of 91 octane..around here Sunoco 110 octane is $7.00 a gal  
    With my 13:1 comp ratio I roll my timing back a bit (for every day driving) and run a mix of QT 91 octane and toululene -for racing I bump my timing back up and use straight 110 or 118 octane ($9.00 a gal)

    here is the formula for figuring octane with toululene (xylene is 110 octane but have never used it )

    It's just simple averaging. For example:
    3 gallons of 101 = 303; 2 gallons of 114 = 228
    303 + 228 = 531
    531 / 5 (total # gals) = 106 octane  

    it is not recommended to use more than 30% mixture and 20% is more acceptable

    3 gals of 91=273 + 1gal toululene=114 ...(25% ratio)

    273 +114=387 /4= 96.7 octane


    you get the idea



    all the "boosters" do is raise octane .2 of a point (equal to injector cleaner...LOL)

     :2thumbs:   That stuff has TetraEthyl Led (TEL) in it and it flat out works.  Plus, the proportion chart is idiot proof---which was a HUGE plus for me....    :bigsmile:

    Can you get that stuff in CA though? And they let street cars fill up with race gas at Infineon now? that is news to me and very cool if true. used to be you weren't allowed to pump gas into your car unless it was a race car only - as in no license plates - I might be remembering the leaded race gas though...

    It should be available in Ca.  You can order it off of the company website.  It states that it is for off road use only, but they aren't responsible for the consumer actions after the purchase...    :naughty:

    OS - you're right, I went in and loaded up my cart, the disclaimer doesn't mention it being illegal in california.

    IMO I think this (the lead additive) would be the most reasonable solution for the octane problem unless you live close to Infineon/Sears Point or one of these other gas stations. On this website, they list stations pumping high octane gas in northern california:

    The track (and race gas pump) is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM with the exception of some major event days.  As far as weekends go, some of the smaller events do not have an admission fee and even the ones that do are usually $10 - $20. To be sure, you can check first before driving out there by calling 800-870-7223 and pressing “0” to speak to the receptionist.
