Something with zinc in it(ZDDP). Currently my choice is Amsoil 10-40. Don't want to wipe out my cam without zinc.   :grinno:

on the 73 motor I have in the car now 10w-30, if I build a new motor I might try some more expensive stuff.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I've always used Valvoline racing 30wt in all my Mopes. I've never lost a motor or a cam lobe yet. I tried a bunch of different types (Pennzoil/Castrol/others) back when I was running 440's and the Valvoline maintained oil pressure the longest on the street in the heat. I know the Synth oil is supposed to be da bomb an all but ever since I put it in my Daytona V-6 and all the lifters clacked like a slant-6 it spooks me. I'm not sold on having real thin oil splashing around in the pan uncovering the pickup. Besides, all oil gets dirty and needs to be changed anyway so I see no need to spend a ton of money on it. I'd rather change it twice in the same period with the same $$$.

Right now I have Mobil 1 20-50, but I am thinking about trying the Royal Purple. Easier to get here in the base exchange - apparently they worked a deal and that is about all you can find on a regular basis - in any quantity. But, I also only change mine once a year (or two)

I don't put enough miles on to worry about anything exotic.
Valvoline

PLUS...

This is a good thread to clear this up -

I have heard that if you hadn't been running synthetic from the start that you will miss on all of it's potential.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Silly question, and I couldn't even tell you of all the "benefits", but it's best to be informed
