Connection For Oil Pressure Gauge Sending Unit??????
« on: July 03, 2008 - 11:39:44 PM »
OK, I got the original style unit to replace the crappy aftermarket oil pressure gauge that actually has hot oil running into my interior.  What should the connector look like?  There is a spare wire back there with a female spade connector.  Is this the right connector?  Based on the shape of the interface on the sending unit, I'm guessing not.

I mean the connector that attaches to the sending unit in the engine compartment, not the connector on the back of the gauge.  Thank you.

it will be a light grey wire with a female spade connector , the spade slips on the top of the sender

Really?  You just push the spade connector onto the thing that looks like a nail head sticking out the top of the sending unit?  That seems pretty hokey.

    :grinyes:

The sending unit is grounded to the block. The gauge is getting power...so this lug on top of the sending unit is the signal to the gauge, and completes the circuit.

OK, a friend looked at his car and you do indeed just push the female spade connector onto the nail head.  I can't believe they designed it that way.  Pretty lame.  Inexpensive, and I guess effective, but not well designed.......
