Show or Go?
« on: July 08, 2008 - 09:25:33 AM »
What do you use (or plan to) your pre-75 Mopar for?  This doesn't have to be an e-body.  Vote for each vehicle if you have more than 1.

I'll be performance cruising! I like your tow rig too. What's funner for you, going to the races in your Chally or towing it to the races?

Well, both will be used for show/cruise, mainly cruise, hardly any show.  My truck will also be used to haul...   :burnout:

Not really show worthy - doubt if it ever will be. But it is FUN to drive

Fun/Performance for both my E-Bodies. Not a big car show person, too much arrogance and c0ck measuring. I prefer to be out on the open road rather than sitting in a deck chair or hearing people talk themselves up lol. Good to meet people with other cars though, just prefer that to be more on a casual basis, not an all out show but a friendly get together appeals more to me, by miles. Daily drive, I'd love to, mine are weekly drivers. 3, 4 or 5 times a week in summer and 2 to 3 times a week in Winter depending on weather.

I don't mind getting caught in the rain or getting her dirty but leaving home in the pouring rain isn't fun so they only come out when it's decent, anything from a chance of rain to full on summer heat, basically anything but a down pour or worse. None of my E-Bodies have or will get driven for less than 1 hour when taken out. These cars hate 5 minutes trips......give them want they need and want.... a real good stretch. Love driving mine, just the vibe, the fun, the looks, the sound, the smell, f#%ken awesome is the only way I can describe it. Just thinking about it gives me "that" itch.....you know the one. ;)

I like to terrorize the locals. I avoid the show and shine car show lookyloos that have 1,000 dumb questions and prefer to beat on my cars. That's what they were made for. I get asked enough questions and get enough stares just going to the gas station or the store. To me nothin beats smokin a Buick GN that has 40K in it with a $3,000 primered Mope running regular gas on street night at Atco. :smokin:

The Beast is not a show car by any stretch, but I take it to the cruise-ins every weekend.  I occasionally give the throttle a burst on the street, but I also take it down the 1/4 mile every now and then to blow the soot out of it....     :burnout:     :ylsuper:

Yeo Oldschool. Ken Lazzeri, who now works at Indy Heads used to run a WICKED '68 Cuda at Atco when he lived here. The thing launched like a rocket and did 8's in the 1/4. He was a very large man back then and I was always amazed at how the body twisted to the right with him sitting in the drivers seat  It had a big Wedge motor.

Both of my Mopars ('68 Barracuda & '74 Challenger) are basically weekend drivers. I do drive them on a nice weekday if the weather is nice. I do local cruise-ins and like them more than a show, but will occasionally do a show to support my car club. There seems to be an element of snobbery at the shows that I'm just not into. I love power & performance and a run down the 1/4 mile isn't out of the question!! I'm all about driving and enjoying them!! :2thumbs:

We have a Dart that we use to race, but the local track got shut down about 2 years ago, so it has been sitting for a while.  The Challenger gets driven primarily on sunny days, but it has seen rain a few times.

I drive, show, and go to cruise nights in both my Cuda and Challenger. I like the cruise-ins as no one is really cleaning there cars and you can come and go as you please. My Challenger loves the open road and soon will get a rear end gear swap for the drive out to the Mopar Nats. Nothing like a 500 mile one way trip to get the carbon out of it.

Mine will mostly be for cruising and making lots of noise.

I'd like to take it to shows as well, but that probably won't happen too often.

Lol - this poll makes no sense!!!

There are four options, plus an "all of the above" option, and I can select NO MORE than FIVE options?!   :roflsmiley:

I'm just pickin'...

Right now my 'Cuda barely ever gets drivin' - most a result of working away from home.  But when I finally get settled, "Project Gold Fish" will be built for "performance cruising" - that's when you take it out to have fun, and by fun, I mean blowing the doors off of other cars that think they're fast.

I'll also take it to shows, but she'll never be a "trailer queen."

I enjoy taking the car out during the week to run errands and love going to the cruises that go on throughout the week.  My car isn't a show car by judging standards but for all those that don't have one they enjoy seeing it and others.  I always liked going to the cruise nights before I got the car.  It's nice walking down memory lane.  I can remember when these cars were just cheap used cars and so many were driven as daily drivers.  My friends and I used to be able to tell what year and model a car was at night just by looking at the headlights coming down the road at us.  Now I walk around loking at other cars and remembering the good ole days.  What a shame my kids will never know that feeling.  Anyway, they can get a taste of it now at cruises.  For those that don't like cruise/shows I undrstand.  To each his own but for me, it's the only place I have to go and be surrounded by car folk intead of the typical New England politial, dinner and drinks, prim and proper.  Lastly, you just can't beat the reaction of people in the lane next to you or watching you pass by.  My guess is they enjoy me driving by as much as I enjoy driving.  God Bless, Chuck
