VANISHING POINT REMAKE

Carl,

Not to steal the thread, I know awhile back you were talking about setting up a Vanishing Point website.  Did anything of come of that?  I know there was one several years ago setup by some guy that owned a replica Vanishing Point, but it's been inactive for several years now.  I still a couple of old clips from that site.

Holy God dang! LMAO boy you have a great memory mate. I was but decided against it. I was/may create a page on my www.carlwalski.com website paying homage and having bits of info on the movie (both versions) with photos etc. Probably will actually. I remember the site and have emailed the owner. The reason the site was closed was he had to sell the car due to hearing loss. I don't think (fair enough too) that he wanted the site to remind him of what he had to give up, so, basically cut all ties with MoPars to make it easier for him, poor guy. He was a member on Moparts (Storemchaser or Stormshawdow) comes to mind. Below are a few photos of his car, 383 4-Speed originally burnt orange or brown, I forget.

When it comes to anything to do with Vanishing Point I usually remember, now with other things my memory isn't so good.  I'm pretty sure I have a video clip of his Challenger doing the 1/4 mile thing on a back road some where by his house.  It's on my computer at work, but I'm vacation right now, camping in Pennsylvania.  I'll email to you when I get back, send me a PM if you don't get it in a couple weeks, just in case I ...........forget.  That car sure was nice (as yours is).  Does anybody know who he sold it too?  On a side note, there was a Vanishing Point look-a-like car at Carlisle, but it was a 440 6-pack, not a 383 like his.  Maybe, somebody has a pic of it.

Thanks Snowdog, for the kudos and for sending the vid, I thought you had photos and accidentally put "clips" up, but I ain't complaining with a vid lol. I'll flick you a PM, hopefully I don't forget either lol..... Not sure who he sold it too, I'd only be guessing. It would be at a good home though, he loved that car, who wouldn't. You have to wonder though, all that time and money to create a "VP Clone" and he used a 383 over the "correct" 440 magnum. Still, awesome car 383 or 440. Enjoy the rest of your vacation bud.

That's Cometstorm's old car. Though he did start with an FK5 383 R/T, I believe the car did get a 440 in the conversion. Very nice car to start with so that's somewhat of a shame. Your right that, looks like his old car before he started the Vanishing Point car.  He had it on his website also, said he sold it (the T/A) to someone in Michigan

That's the guys user name I knew it had storm somewhere lol. Nope, unless he changed at the very last minute the car was 100%  a 383 car. Doesn't mater to me but for references sake, it was a 383ci. It was brunt orange interior too wasn't it, fro memory. I remember he changed quite a bit that's why I always thought it was odd not to get a 440 and make it exact, exact. I searched MoParts and found his old members rides page with all info, no more guessing for anyone.

OK thanks, my mistake. The car did have burnt orange seats before he started. I have pics of it somewhere.

You know I never really checked the tire callouts on the VP cars in the movie. I just assumed they were 14" because he pulled out a full size spare. Now I'm going to have to check.

I know you can clearly see the 440 Magnum near the beginning in the river scenes in Colorado.

Also, VP replicas should have power windows according to the scene when he pulls off the road to "rest" with Charlotte Rampling.

Well yes, that's it and it looks like a 383 in it.  Either way it's still nice.  Still nothing like those white engine compartments for a "clean" look.  Didn't a couple of the chase cars or interior film cars used in the movie have a 383?  But, I do agree a 440 would of been more "correct".  His website was pretty nice though, I really did like the section he had showing the other vanishing point clones from around the world.  Hey, on another side note what do you guys think of this white challenger (see attachments)?  I have seen it at woodward dream cruise and at carlisle this year.  It's more of modern version with the new hemi in it and the dash modified.  Also, the paint is bright white metal flake, you can't see the metal flake unless your a couple of feet from it.  BTW, it's for sale, don't know the price.

  Very clean looking Challenger, was it an auto or manual, thought I could see an extra reservoir besides the brake master.   
  It's the modified cars that really give more appeal to a car, I like to keep the outside as original as possible, street sleeper, but do what is necessary underneath to improve the go and handling.

  Now that has got me thinking ( my head hurts ). Only problem is that a remake would wreck more Challengers and there are far tooo few now.

It's a nice car but a little too "bling bling" for me. I'm the same as Aussie Challenger and like all, if any, modern upgrades to be hidden. I'm a stock/stealth kind of guy. Madeline my non #s 'Cuda will be what I call a factory custom. Custom work tied into a factory appearing car. Vanishing Point rocks, all this talk, best post a photo of my White R/T and then watch the movie. Lucy, by the way, is not a Vanishing Point "replica". I just like white cars/Challengers and she has items which aren't correct (on purpose, taste, preference) like no bumper guards, two mirrors, TF727, wrong steering wheel, wrong rim caps/tires, etc.
