OK RON FRANCIS HAS 2 KITS LISTED FOR MOPARS ON HIS SITE. THE XP-68 EXPRESS and the XP-777.
The XP-68 states "The Express is a direct replacement for all previous Ron Francis kits" yet when I questioned the 2 differences

Ron,

I think most of us are considering the XP-68 which you state on the site is the upgrade to the other Mopar harness and the latest and greatest....Any reason why we would want to go with the XP777 over the XP-68???

Rich

I got the following resonse "Newer cars want the XP-777 as it has more included for the same price.  The XP-68 is the base from which we make the 3 digit (Xp777) kits from. You will not see the subtle differences in the photos.  We did not take a photo of every part number.

 :clueless: :clueless: :clueless:

IF any of you guys know wiring and are interested in this deal, why don't you call or email and see if you get a coherent answer that you can then explain to the rest of us. Because I thought the XP-68 was the way to go according to the website...

I agree, I'm interested and want to buy, but just want to replace my 30 year old wiring, which ever one would be easiest replacement and cover my needs is what I'm interested in.

I dont know. It almost sounds like this group buy will be a group dilema. Didnt you try to get this group buy going because you need a harness for your 68 barracuda?  So it would be cost effective for you?  I'd consider really trying to find oem stuff or just rebuild what you have.   Just me, take no offense :2thumbs:

I could reuse my wiring with some small repairs, but I will always have that restless feeling of;  "what`s that smell... is there a wire burning? "  or..." honey , did you turn off the lights? "   :faint:
I just don`t trust that old stuff with the hard wires and oldschool connectors  :dunno:

just sent Ron an e-mail with some questions...

OK I think RON cleared this up. For the majority of Mopar applications. The best wire harness to redo the entire car is the XP-777

Both kits are an EXPRESS kit. One has more parts then the other.  To avoid complaints the extra parts are added at no extra charge to the customer.  Please accept my apology if the wording on one ad seems to contradict another.  Moving on, I recommend the XP-777 for your application.

Here is a photo of the fuse box that will be in your XP-777 EXPRESS kit-->>>

All of this information pertains to your applicaiton, not just the XP-68:
Wiring for one-wire alternator (external alternators add VR-99). This kit will wire points, aftermarket and electronic (factory or dealer supplied) distributors. It also allows for connecting the Chrysler starter relay for use of the factory transmission-mounted neutral safety switch. Our printed and color-coded HIGH TEMPERATURE fire-resistant wiring is supplied for all circuits, including for the lighting needed for most safety inspections: Hi and Lo beams, indicator lights, brake, turn signal, parking and third brake light. The EXPRESS has been improved over previous models to simplify and speed up installation, facilitated by our famous COLOR CODED INSTRUCTIONS. The kit includes a headlight switch, isolated cooling fan relay and a unique serial number that allows us to give technical support to you and any subsequent owner.

Our newest custom wiring system is built specifically for your vehicle with all the connectors and wiring necessary to drive it, pass inspection, and be able to add accessories as you see fit, now and in the future. We have included the cooling fan relay. This is due to the fact that more and more customers are using electric fans. Now you can have everything centrally located for a cleaner installation! We've also added a Multi-Connection Battery Junction Block to reduce the number of wires going to the starter for all those add-ons in your custom application.

*Clear Coated, Polished Stainless Steel Finish
*18 Circuits on 16 Fuses
*4 Select-A-Fuses
*Faster Installation with New Style Terminal Block
*Cooling Fan Relay & Wiring Included
*Only the Best Quality Wire and Terminals
*Proper Size Heavy Wire for Each Circuit
*Handles 100 Amp Alternators
*Serial Number
*Includes the Proper Connectors & Terminals
*Clear, Simple, Color Coded Instructions

The Express is a direct replacement for all previous Ron Francis kits. It has a very similar bag structure to the past models. All variations of alternator, distributor and steering column are available. Along with the cooling fan wiring and the Multi-Connection Battery Juntion Block, it has 16 fuses, 4 of them select-a-circuit, for complete flexibility in building it your way. The 3-digit part number series harnesses indicate engine manufacturer. Some foreign applications are available.

Dash ignition and floor dimmer switch users update to new reliable switches. Order Wire Works Part # SW-37.

If you have an externally regulated alternator we recommend ordering the External Regulator Wiring (Order Wire Works Part # VR-99) and the Voltage Regulator (Order Wire Works Part # VR-88).

Also from Ron: Your range of vehicles have a fire wall connector and fuse box that are either rusted or burned or both.  The XP-777 has a "firewall connector cover" that eliminates all those original problems.  Painless offers you a GM fire wall plug which doesn't fit the factory Mopar hole anyway.  We actually include the complex mopar starter solenoid wiring where Painless sends you a GM plugs instead.

Any other parts you want on top of the XP-777 order with Ron when he contacts you. I have sent all relevant contact info from each member to Ron and he should be contacting you each soon to take your payment. Address any concern or questions direct with him then.

Got my call from Bob with Ron Francis this morning.  Very easy transaction.  I guess I better get to their site and see if I want any of the accessory kits before they ship my order.

Ron contacted all of you guys but a group buy/discount does't mean that you can get back in touch a week or month later and buy the harness! I confirmed to all interested that I had submitted your contact info as you submitted to me along with your order. This looks bad for us as forum members by not sticking to a deal. Yes I'm just a newbie on this board but I'm also a seasoned business owner and understand how business should be conducted!
