Help with stall

Hey guys and gals hope eveything is going good for everyone. OK my situation is when I drive my car and it heats up it stalls out. I can start it up if I hold the gas pedal in but if I let it go back to idle it will die again. Also if it cools off 15-20 minutes it will start up fine and run till it heats up again. The entire fuel system is new from the tank to the carb. Also the ignition system is all new. Any ideas on how to fix this problem.

383,727, BG Mighty Demon, New ECU, ballast and engine harness also .

Just shooting in the dark here - is your fuel system vented? Could be that it heats up about the same time that the tank has too much of a vacume to allow fuel out.  :dunno:

si the fuel line near the exhaust , you may need an insulator under the carb , obviously it is a heat problem boiling the fuel in the line or carb

The only place it gets even close to the headers is at the fuel pump but not really close. I'll try the spacer out too.

I agree with CP and MrMopar, those are two good things to check. Also could you let us know if it only does this on hot days (and if so, how hot), and are you running a return style regulator (returns unused fuel back to the tank) or does the fuel line stop at the carb.

I don't have a return line. I went out this morning and it ran fan and didn't have the problem. Yesterday I think it was around 90-100 when it happened.

Id try the carb spacer first, that may help or fix it completely. If that doesn't help, put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what it reads when the problem occurs. If it's a pressure problem, maybe try an electric fuel pump back by the tank. Pressurized fuel doesn't vaporize as easily as fuel under no pressure (i.e. on the supply side of a mechanical pump). You could run an electric pump with a return regulator and return line back to the tank. If you have the ECS system on your car (the fuel vapor seperator in the trunk that looks like a big banana) you can use the vapor return line for the fuel return and plumb it back into the tank (there are a couple of hoses you have to swap). That's what I ran where I live and it gets pretty hot here 108-110 during summer and I didn't have any vaporization problems even running at the track when it was 105.

Had the same problem on my 'cuda. Would not idle when it was hot.In my case it was the craburator (Holley). I swaped it out then the problem was gone.

I'll have to jump on the bandwagon about the carb. spacer suggestion. Even a 1/2" spacer will do wonders if your problem is vapor lock.   :thumbsup:

I have the spacer but I'm worried about air cleaner clearance and throttle cable length.

That's why I went with a 1/2". My air-cleaner is pretty close to kissing my hood now.  The throttle cable won't be a problem.

Make sure the float level is right.  Tap lightly on the bowls maybe there is some dirt in there too.

I have the sight glass windows and the fuel level seems to be just right.

Have you got the boiling problem worked out. Mine is doing the same thing.
