I think I'm gonna be selling the Barracuda and the Fury...
« on: July 12, 2008 - 02:00:53 AM »
...in a couple of years.

Why, you ask?

Well, today, I visited the local Dodge dealership to get a brochure for the new Challenger, and they just so happened to have one of the 08 SRT-8s in the showroom.  Love at first sight.  In my entire life, there hasn't been a new car that could get me as excited as the classics.  That is, until the new Challenger.  I swore then and there that I will own an R/T Challenger.  As much as I love my Barracuda, the Challenger just seems so much... more.  It's become my new dream car.  I can't afford to order one new, and probably won't be able to for a while, but, I will be able to pick up a used R/T in a few years, if I sell the Barracuda and the Fury.

It's something I plan to think long and hard about for the next few years.

I'm having similar thoughts. I really want to get a pair of those new Hemi heads on my flowbench and start grinding.....  :grinyes:

I wouldn't give up my T/A for one but we are thinking of selling the Road Runner. We just have so much space so something would have to go to make it happen.   :2thumbs:

If I can afford to buy one and keep my Challengers then I will. If not then I would sell one to help fund a new Challenger purchase no problem.

I still couldn't afford a new challenger if i sold both of my cars! I'm not even positive i'd want to either...Not yet atleast. Do you have a place to store this new challenger? Surely it's too much to let sit in the snow and drive through the snow (in my opinion). Insurance and the car note would be the killer for me. And its too much $$ for an automatic car imo! At my rate, I'll end up with a Bimmer that I can work on, lol

I`d keep the Fury as it`s not worth a heck of a lot anyway and will be a great winter car/driver for the times you don`t want to drive the new Challenger and then you`ll still have a classic to play with.

I have a garage but I would not store a new one, it would be a daily driver. That is part of the pull, a really cool car that you can drive everyday with modern conveniences. You think you can get away with paying less insurance for any kind of performance BMW? lol good luck. I dont want an automatic either and to tell the truth I want a convertible so I would get an R/T 6 speed drop top if they release one in a couple of years  I know I could not afford one now though which is ok, I can wait a couple of years and let the brandy new wear off.

Neither will I.  I'll let someone else take the initial hit in value.

I have always wanted to special order a 'Cuda or Challenger just how I want it. Hopefully in a couple of years I will be able to do just that

I tell ya what man,

At Carlisle we were parked just across the grass from the 08 Challenger lineup.  At first I thought, "Wow!!  There they are!!  Finally!"  Then I looked again and realized, "Wow, 6 Challengers right in a row - everyone absolutely identical."  You stood there and looked left, and it was an orange Challenger.  You looked right, more orange Challengers.  There was nothing unique except one had a different wheel design.

On the same token, I was the ONLY White 'Cuda in the Ebody area (that I saw, at least.)  The ONLY ONE.

Think about it - that's all I'm saying.

I will consider buying one in late 2009 or 2010. By then, I will have home and shop paid for.   The car looks good no matter what color. I have waited for decades for mopar to do this.  I won't sell what I have to buy it. But I will buy it. And also get a 30 plus mpg beater for the regular duties.
