4 speed pedal swap
« on: July 13, 2008 - 12:26:47 PM »
Hey guys I'm getting the parts together for my 4 speed swap. I was wonderiong about the pedals though. Do I have to buy an entire pedal assembly or is there a way to convert my assembly to have a clutch.  Also does anyone have some parts that they can part with that will help me. Dodgeboys gave me his bellhousing and flywheeel.

Certainly the easiest way is to buy a complete assembly with the necessary brackets, pedals, shafts, bearings etc. These seem to run in the $200-300 range. But if you were so inclined, you might be able to piece together all the misc, assorted pieces that it would take to build a set. The tough thing will be convincing people to sell you pieces.

Ok thanks. Now I have seen some assemblies on ebag. Will any ebody pedal assembly fit on my 71?

I did the conversion on my 71 Challenger.  It was easy.  I used the 71-74 B body pedals.  They were $50 cheaper at Brewers because they weren't "correct".  The E body pedals are a little smaller.  Here are a few pics.

Did my conversion a couple months ago, It was pretty easy after gathering up all the parts.
B-Body pedals will work fine, they are about an inch longer..
PG or Roseville has the pedal assemblies and Brewers will have just about everything else.
If you need any other photos , feel free to ask....

Oh, I didn't weld my floor tunnel in , instead I used 12 - 3/16 rivets and seam sealer just in case I want to change it back..

what is this seam sealer i keep hearing about? is it like a liquid weld or something? just wondering about doing the same thing that vinb did cause i have never welded before and am frankly frightened to. same with the ball stud mount, but i think i have to get that one welded in.

you still need to weld the tunnel in , the seam sealer just fills in between the spot welds

Actually welding thinner material is harder than thicker material you just need to spot wel the tunnel in though every 1" or so
