Trunk Divider Pattern Wanted
« on: July 18, 2008 - 02:56:37 PM »
Hey guys, I was looking at buying a new trunk divider panel, but when I saw what the wanted for shipping ($73!!), I decided I can make one myself if I had the pattern.

I was wondering if anyone could make a paper pattern off their original, or if you're close and you don't mind, I could drive over and do it myself.

Sorry, I'm just not "financially endowed" enough to throw away $70 on shipping a piece of thin hardboard that costs $4.95 for a 4' x 8' at OSH.

After I make one for myself, I'd be willing to mail to pattern to the next guy who needs it.

Where are you at?  I looked in your profile, but I am positive you are not where you said you are. DMT sells them and it comes rolled up so it is not oversize. And has the insulation on the back to.

Sorry Al, I was in the process of changing my profile information....

I'm in Livermore, CA, which is East of San Francisco about 45 minutes.

The insulation is cheap to ship, I need the piece that is like stiff paperboard that it backs to.  In fact, I already have the insulation I'm going to use, just need the stiff backing!

Thanks very much for the help!!   ;D

DMT sent me the stiff cardboard rolled up in a circle and it went back to shape perfectly.  I had to re read your post. This is the piece beteewn the back seat and the trunk right?  cost me like 18 bucks to ship it. Now yr one ships them over sized and flat. They bite on shipping

Yep, sounds like we're talking about the same piece.   :)

I checked DMT's website, didn't see any trunk divider panels.  Lots of body and heater gaskets, though.

I'm still hoping I can find someone who can just make a pattern for me, if anyone has one taken out already.

I went through this same thing.  Couldn't see paying over $100 for something I could make for $10.  Sorry I don't have a pattern, but I'll tell you what I did.

Use newspaper or other stiff paper if available to make a template.  Once you get it the way you want, just transfer to the cardboard.

This also worked great for trunk carpet.  You just keep adjusting the paper template until you get it the way you want.

Good luck.

Take a look at the picture and let me know if you think that is it. I'm not sure if it's from a Cuda or Challenger. I think it may be Challey 'cause I did part one out decades ago. If it is, I could trace it out on a sheet of packing paper.

That is it!!  At least I think it is....  Maybe Al or someone could verify....

I would be really grateful if it is, and you could trace it out for me!  I'll cover all mailing costs of the template, and send some extra money for a six pack of good beer!!

No mailing money or any extra needed! It'll only be folded up and put in a 13 x 10 envelope, that'll be pretty cheap. My reward is that I may have been able to help out, God does that sound corney or what?    I'll trace it out this weekend and mail it Monday. You can PM or e-mail me your mailing address whenever.

Now why would you think that sounds corny?  It is very good of you. Everyone needs a taste of doing things for other people they dont know. It fills a spot inside your heart that no drug could ever make you feel.  If we all learn to give more, the world will start slowing down and maybe turn backwards.

Thanks John, this is too nice!   :woohoo:

I'll definately return the favor, and the next person who wants to build one of these, I can mail the template out to them as well!!  There might be several people besides me who can benefit from this!!

Definately!!   :2thumbs:

Hey, since you're so close, we cruise into John's Burger near downtown Livermore every Friday night about 7:30 or 8:00.  I'll be there tonight if you want come on out and chat about 4 speed conversions.  I'll be driving my primered pile that I did one on.
