74 360 engine
« on: July 19, 2008 - 04:35:39 PM »
I'm trying to finish cutting up this 74 charger so I can have my driveway back. What do you think the 360&904 are worth I'm keeping the fan, starter and alt.It turns over but I have never heard it run so I would think it needs rebuilding.I realy don't want to scrap it with the rusty shell but I have no room for it here. Also where is the numbers on the block I need to check to make sure it's a 360. Thanks Chuck

If no body grabs up on this, there is a member needing a 360 for his project he is building. He is over in Iraq. He wants me to build him a 360 stroker for his M46 car. Let me know something...thanks

There should be some numbers stamped on the drivers upper front of the block.  If there are none in that location there is a vin on the passengers oil pan rail. There should also be some raised cast numbers on the drivers side behind the exhaust manifold.
I purchased a 72 318 running great for 250 bucks.  I would think the 74 360 would be worth close to that range since you don't know if it is running or not.  That's my two cents anyway.

I saw a 360 (5.9 Mag) on racing junk for $300.00 that needed "freshened up".  Hope this helps.

These 360's (71-74) are excellent blocks. They are much stronger than later 360's. They are also a bit more sought after by drag racers because of the thicker cyl. walls and main webbing.
These are good blocks to turn into big bore strokers.

Al, I have an old truck, 1971, that has one of these. If you're ever in the neighborhood we can throw it in the back of yer truck. It has something like 60,000 miles but it needs an overhaul (4" crank :cooldancing: ).

BTW, he was supposed to come get this truck from me but he was leaving soon and couldn't make it happen. Didn't think he was wanting the engine for his M46 though.

The engine is for member 426hemi, I will figure out a way to get this from you some how. Or will find one eventually. I have to go get a flatbed and wrecker his car up to my place. He is having problems and asked if I could go get it and store it for him.
