Powershifting
« on: March 28, 2004 - 07:25:32 PM »
HOW???  :D  some guy at school told me you don't even have to clutch once it hits a certain rpm you can snap it back into second and so forth.....but i'm thinkin thats gotta be hell on the tranny so i talked to my cousin..he said you have to side step the clutch so you get it all the way down but its quick engouh that the rpms dont' fall that much..but you have to be quick to hit every gear..which ones right? for those who have done it....i know on 4 wheelers you don't have to clutch it to shift but you can snap through gears faster if you clutch fast enough...thanks for the help i'm wanting to try and powershift my car when i get it done  ;D ;D

If you pull on tne shifter as hard as you can under full power , you will not pull it out of gear , so the basics are to pull/ push hard on the shifter , kick the clutch pedal 2/3 of the way down & slide off the side of the pedal allowing it to re-engage on it`s own  whil enever lifting on the gas pedal!! ;D
I highly recommend a non diaphragm clutch & a Rev limiter
You can also shift without using the clutch , all the truck drivers do it but it is slow , you need to match the rpm in the different gear to slide them together

Get a Borg & Beck style or Borg & Beck Long style , Mcleod is the best I have used , Hays , Ram have them also , the factory clutches were the B&B
