C'mon Cuda Hunter,    Are you serious?  When you sell a pad, you take off the VIN tag and it stays with the car. Finoke will not buy that body without the original tag going with it.

  I was just wondering.  Not trying to put any blame or anything.  I keep seeing pads for sale with the vin on them and I was curious.  Seems that the verts are the most saught after and I thought it a little weird is all.  I couldn't imagine seperating any of my cars with their original dash any way.  Sorry if I offended. 
  Are the correct rivets available to put your vin back on another dash?

That's a ridiculously low price on a convertible by the way.

Hi hunter...no offense taken...Legitimate questions...If someone did not want the dash pad with the car I would take it our, BUT the VIN tag would go with the car.  What they do with it is their headache.  I would prefer to sell the car intact.  On the other coment

...do you feel $10,500 is to low for that car?  I am kind of feeling my way around with it..If it does not sell I may take it to the nats in Columbus...does anyone know what i have to do to sell it there?  It is a great project for someone and will be really nice when it is done.  i just dont have the time.

The dash in my 70 R/T came from a '70 vert that was parted out in the '80s. It was a 3 speaker air dash that never cracked.  (I don't know why)

Yours is also perfect. I wonder why these were able to survive when others seem to crack easily. 

Those rivets are available all over the place including Ebay at times.

To sell your car at the Nationals, just buy a car corral space. I think your car's price isn't too cheap. (it IS missing the rear end and tail lights)  To the average person it is still high. To a guy looking for months for an affordable, rebuildable Challenger Vert, it is a good price.

Well, I can't say it is too low as usually the prices I see on verts are absolutely too high, for less of a car.  That is really a very reasonable price for a vert.  Probably the most reasonable I have seen.  But, I havn't been i the market, or alive for that matter, as most of the people on this forum.  Great entry price for someone wanting a vert and not having the money for a 40K project.  If it was for sale a year ago I would have purchased this car.  That metal work isn't really that bad, just have to jump in and weld some metal up.  No big deal.

Just a tip for you guys. When taking off a vin plate from your old cracked dash to put on to your new repro dash, don't drill out the rivets. Use a dremel and cutoff wheel to cut the rivet flush from the underside of the dash pad. Then you glue the vin with the old rivit heads to the new dash. It will look unaltered and you won't have to pay 20 dollars a rivit  :roflsmiley:

I meant above to sell the perfect original dash pad because they usually bring more money than the cost of buying a new repro. Also I would go for a color change. I have a thing for the 70 interiors that are red or blue. And of course the vin stays with the car not the pad.

If you tried to drill it it spins and ruins the finish on top and looks altered.  I look at it from the bottom; if it still has the expander head in it, I tap it out from the top, then squeeze the remaining part with a pair of vice grips to allow it to push back through the holes.  When installing it on a new dash pad, you can always use the pin from a new rivet inserted into the old rivet head to reattach it.
