AAR Options?
« on: July 20, 2008 - 08:30:28 PM »
Hi Folks,
I humbly ask if there is a/are source(s) on the net or a book(s) that lists all the different options that were available on AARs.  I'm looking for everything from exterior color availability, combos of interior color to body color, suspension options, trim levels, radio options, etc...  I'm not looking for production numbers rather what was available on the AARs.  The reason I ask is that I'm planning on what I'm going to do to my '72 Barracuda to clone an AAR.  I want to get it as close to what the cars had and want to avoid putting a red interior in a red painted car (for example) if that wasn't an option produced on the real AARs.

I know this would be a lot to list so if any one could point me to source or collection of sources, I would so much appreciate it!

Cheers and many thanks in advance!!!
Sean

Hi Sean, that transamcuda.com site is my favorite one out of the 3 suggested. It has some good info and history.

Hey Sean,

If you want to make something unique you should check out the two tone interiors that were available in AAR cars aswell........... Their was a Red/White interior, plus others. :2thumbs:

Do front and rear rubber bumpers. It makes the car look really clean in my opinion.

I thought just about any option/ color combo available in 1970 were also put on AARs  (except engine/exhaust of course).  I was surprised to see a bench seat column shift AAR at a show a couple years ago.

hemiken,
I saw the pics of the two tone interiors on the www.aarta.com website.  I REALLY like the red/white interior.

Don,
It's hard to not go wrong with red!  Problem is I like the car in too many colors!  LOL!!!  Might end up writing all the colors it came in on a piece of paper, ripping it up and pulling one out of a hat!

Will,
I agree!  The colormatching bumpers look great, probably the route I'm going to take.

inot2old,
Never seen an AAR with a bench seat!  Got a pic?  I'm really like to see it!!!

Here's a pic of a diecast car I have in my collection.  Has a different exterior/interior color combo!!!

The AAR could have a bench seat in Black, Green, or Blue. As well as two-tones (combined with white) of any of those 3 colors.

Cool!  Thanks for the pic!  :picture:  At first glance, I thought it had buckets.  I can see how it may be easy to not notice if the doors were closed.

Thanks!

There was one exterior color restriction on the AAR. The only available vinyl top color was Black.
