UP DATE: I pulled the heads and found NO marks on any pistons or valves. But can someone tell me what is the correct way to do the clay test with hydrolic lifters? If used as they were running in the car I have between .057 and .085 clearance on the intake. I was told by a shop owner/mech that I had to disassemble the lifter and shim it so it was locked solid. This way the intake valves do touch all the pistons. And yes the cam was installed correctly just not degreed yet.
