71 Cuda on Pikes Peak
« on: July 22, 2008 - 07:13:57 AM »
This past weekend was the annual running of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. This is the second oldest race in the country behind the Indy 500. This year included a vintage class and local driver Jess Neal took his Rocky Mtn Vintage Racing Assoc '71 AAR style Cuda up the Mountain. He finished 5th overall in class which isn't bad since this was his first trip up there in his competition car.

Here are links to some pictures. Yes, that is snow in the background. The race goes to the summit of 14,000 ft tall Pikes Peak and is a combination of asphalt paving and dirt. Some switchbacks have 1000 ft drop offs before reaching the tree line or anything big enough to stop a run away car.

Very nice! Thanks for the pictures/links.
I'm from Colorado and have seen/heard his car. Very impressive. I think he's in one of the newest Mopar magazines too.
Vintage racing inspires for sure.........

I wish I had known he was going to have that car on the mountain this year.  I would have definitely gone just for that!
