How high for the radiator?

What is the maximum height for the radiator cap to set from the support for the hood to close? My car has a custom made radiator and I drilled the holes where my old one has them but it seems kind high. I would like to fix this before I put the hood back on so it would be easier. Thanks

Dont know if it helps, but I just took a tape and measured from the core support to the top of my factory radiator and cap. It was right at one inch above the support

I know mine is more then one inch above the support. I was poking around the pics on here and came across troutstreamnm project and mine is just about where his is sitting. To me it looks way to far above for the hood to close. Here's a pic of troutstreamnm's radiator.

I've been trying to catch him on-line to see if he had put his hood on yet and if it fit.
