I'm selling my bottle for Cuda parts
« on: July 22, 2008 - 09:25:59 PM »
I've been investigating what it's worth. It's full to the top, perfectly sealed, and stored on its side in the closet.

Here's the reply from the auction house:

Sorry it took a while to get back to you, but I was out of town. I found one bottle of 1929 Chateau La Tour Haut Brion retailing for $2200, so our auction estimate would be $ 500-1000, assuming it’s in excellent condition and was stored well. Our consignment terms are on our website. If you’re interested, and we can get the bottle by Thursday, we might feature it in our brochure with other wine we’re highlighting for our upcoming August auction.
Mike, Fremont, CA.

Good luck with that Topcat...the effects from the new Cuda parts will stay with you a lot longer than effects from the wine! Hope you get a good price for it

Thanks,

Money will probably go towards the shaker hood conversion stuff to buy.
I have no idea if it's still drinkable or not.

Not sure if this helps, but ebay lets you sell stuff like that because the value is in the age and not the contents.  Just an idea.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I checked into that. Can't do it. Unless you have a liquor license.
I even tried to post it, and it wouldn't let me put it up. E bay sent me a reply... :nono:

You should head up to Napa Valley go on a wine tasting tour. As it is winding down and everybody is tipsy, do an improv auction right there on the spot.  :drunk:

Does Wine still ferment after bottling?  'Cause if so it's probably 99% alcohol!

I keep wishing I'm going to find something like that buried in my parents house, but of all the junk they've collected, none of it actually has that, what'ch'a call, "VALUE...."

I found this at an Estate Sale about 4 years ago. A friend of my cousin told her "to come on over and take what you want."
She said to my mom she didn't have time so my mom sent me over. The lady there said take whatever you want home no charge.

We had a field day that day. Anyway, that bottle was in a box with some other old bottles.
Last year I sold a 1906 cork on e bay for 90 bucks to some cork collector in France. He wanted the medallion on top of it. The bids and questions about it really surprised me.

I'm so curious if that Bordeax is drinkable. If it is,...a couple of grand.  :faint:

How can you tell if its been stored properly without opening the bottle and thereby destroying the value?

I'm betting it's not good anymore. It was found in a garage.
Looks like Bordeax is one of the few wines that can keep good for a long time...if stored properly.

Yuck.  :eek4: Too heavy of a wine in the first place even if it was still good.

Hope you can get primo dollars for it!! Kool find!! Wine will not continue to ferment. Once it gets to 12%, that's about it. The only way to increase the alcohol content after that is to distill it. It's called Brandy!!
