I'll go out right now and take the trans out of the plastic bag and see if the shifter plate is on there or not.  Now it isnt a question weather your a baby bird or not but what kind of bird. You'd rather be a baby eagle then a little sparrow my tire chirpin friend.

I never use the switch the goes on the clutch pedal.  I like to be able to start without the clutch pressed.  I actually get a starter relay for a 60's stick shift that way I don't have to ground the safety start connector on the relay, its already done.

The goal never changes - Stop the 60' timer with your back tires

Drew, this 4 spd I got is from a 72 cuda. Which makes it a small block 4 spd. It will have the smaller retainer hole. The Big blocks used the bigger retainer. I am running a 70 e body 4 speed small block tranny in mine. I had to get the adapter ring to fit my 518 bellhousing correctly.

Do you have this adapter ring on your list?

Go-Fish  (JOHN) will be here today. He can bring your parts down to you. But your swap isn't going to happen in a day maybe not 2 days. Something will always come up. (Murphy's Law) We were wondering if you are going to do this outside or inside. If the job runs over by bolts breaking, missing something, weather, other priority pops up, or whatever, do you have a dry safe area to do this swap?  I know I am a half days drive away, but my shop is yours to use for the asking. I have heat, and A/C , all the jacks and stands, shelter, food, bed, help, access to a bolt supply.....

Just giving you a heads up :2thumbs:

Alan,

I called John because he mentioned that. I was going to do it in a shop with a lift, but, since you have everything I need (including experience), I figured if you didnt mind me coming up for 3-4 days, I would head up your way. Let me know how you are feeling and if you are feeling like having a sarcastic youngn' rummaging through your shop, i will be more than happy to come up and occupy space. The only problem I run into is what to do with the 727 in the car, and Gas money again  :banghead: . I dont have the ring because i dont know which one to order or where to order. Brewers has a big block bell housing with the 4.35 bearing retainer hole so i was going to get that one and try to avoid the ring. let me know your thoughts.

Drew

When you talk to Brewers. Just tell them you have a 72  cuda 340 trans and what bb bellhousing would it take. Or if they have that ring adapter. They will be able to get you on track in that.

Shops open.  When buying parts baby bird, just remember that when leaving the nest, you have to be prepared to fly or you will fall. If you have 20 bucks, you wont go to California. The trans could be drained and set in the trunk. Just dont go gear slamming on the way home. Or you could leave it here.

im trying my best to not be cheap cheap. but it is hard knowing that i still have to fly home to get moma and boyo. I will be getting my bell housing on the 15th so i will call them then and talk to them about it. I will be at your place to do the swap, but i have to be back at Tyndall on 1 Nov to sign my lease to the house, and i fly back to Colorado on 8 Nov.

like i said, you are more than welcome to come enjoy our beaches if you want to do that as well.

Alan,

do you have the bolts to mount the tranny to the bell housing? and what other clips do i need? i only ordered the ones for the shiftrods???? hook a brotha up.  i will be ordering the bell housing from brewers in a couple of days. they said that i dont need an adapter ring, they make a bell housing for this application.
