Newbie from Panama City Florida!!!!
« on: July 28, 2008 - 01:59:40 PM »
Hi All,

Hi, my name is David and I live in Panama City, FL. I knew about this website because of Sleepychallenger (Drew) around September 2007.
It has been my pleasure to me a member of CC .com so far. I usually spend my time off searching for parts for my 73 Barracuda and reading the posts on CC.com. I have not been posting as I should, but I do a lot of reading on this website. :clapping:

I will give you some background info on how I got into the Mopar world. In the beginning I was a Ford guy, I owned a 2004 mustang and I was in the search for an old 69, 70 fastback. Mustangs were the only muscle cars I knew about, and yes I had heard about Superbirds, Chargers, Cudas, and Challengers but I was not too familiar with them at all.

My interest on MOPARS started around January 2005, my wife and I were visiting her parents down in Mexico. After many hours of driving down south and around 5 minutes from my wife’s town I noticed a muscle car sitting next to the highway, in front of a house. This car really caught my attention and I fell in love with it as soon I as saw it, love at first sight without a doubt  . So I pulled over as soon as I could to take a closer look at it, the car was a73 charger.

The car happened to be owned by a 45 year old woman, so I found out where she lived and went to her house to ask her if she was interested in selling the car. Unfortunately she said no  :sly:, the car had already been sold for the equivalent to $1100 US dollars!!! to another member of her family. To make this story shorter, I went to the person she sold it to and after offering $1500US dollars on the spot with money on hand he said NO  :pullinghair:. I was very disappointed, but that did not stop there.

I spent the next two years trying to get a cool MOPAR. One day looking on e-bay I ran into a 73 Barracuda for sale, and it was around the same price I was willing to payfor the B-body. The Barracuda was going to need some bodywork, but for some reason I found it  more appealing than the 73 Charger, so I bought it. I considered myself very fortunate to own one of the hottest Mopars ever made. Until this day I have been in love with my Barracuda and a proud E-body owner. :ylsuper:

And I know.....   :useless:

Welcome to the site - nice that you've introduced yourself.  That was a nice-looking Charger, but I think you got the better deal, despite the work you have in front of you.  And yes -  :useless: - of the Cuda!   :smilielol: :poopoke:

 You're right! Here's my 73 Barracuda. It is a GB5, came with a 318 but it has a 1972 340 in it. It also had a balck vinyl top. Now it is all gone since I started  :working: on it. I thing both my fenders and quarters have to go.  :(

Welcome.  I am also new here.  So far it seems like there is a lot of gear heads with a lot of mopar knowledge.  I think we will find a great deal of help and interest in our projects. I was 15 years old when I fell in love with the barracuda while going to the grocery store with my mother.  We were driving down 24 hwy and I noticed this cool looking fat rearended car.  I quickly asked my mom "what kind of car is that" ,being the cool mom she was and the fact is was a car from her generation, she instantly recognized it as a barracuda.  That's the kind of car I want.  I saved my money and bought one for 2,500.  I stupidly traded it for a 1976 formula firebird.  Know I am looking to correct that mistake and find a project barracuda to restore to resemble my first car.

Nice to hear from you Drew!  :ylsuper:

Iraq has been good to me so far, and yes I have been saving enough money to buy some panels and little things here and there. I know 7 posts a year is a shame  :blah:  but I love reading more than writing, can't help it  :-[ LOL. Hey I think I am gonna stick with my 340, I really think it has potential. :burnout:
