what should i expect to pay for a decent barracuda

What should I expect to pay for a decent barracuda project? Let's say the interior is trashed, needs floor panels, quarter panels, trunk, engine rebuild or maybe no engine, non matching #'s.

Sorry, 70-74 and I'm not interested in anything rare as I intend on going the restomod path, classic looks and modern running gear.

In that shape.   I would expect,  For the CUDA model, Barracuda's are typically lower as well as the Gran Coupe model. Usually by half.

  Of course, prices change all over the place depending upon who is selling the car.  These prices I would say are what I have seen over the last 5 years or so. 
This is the shape of cars I look for as I cannot afford a 50K car.

Sounds good. I was kinda of hoping to find something in the 5k range.  I will also have 5k to get me started on the metal work, which I plan to do myself.  From there it will be working a few more hours here and there to buy things.  This is a car that I hope to finish in 2yrs.

I haven't seen anything restoarable in those price ranges in several years. Have they come down that much?
I have a semi rough, but restorable 71 Cuda and I wouldn't think of taking less than 12K for it. I paid $3500 for a 73 with no driveline four years ago and thought that I had gotten a bargain.

I paid $3800 for my 71 Challenger a year ago and it was mostly complete needing only rusted panel replacement and restoration, I thought I got mine for a really really good deal.

This is a great question. You have an advantage since you are not interested in numbers matching. I once thought that any complete car for under 10k was a good deal. If I were you I would hold out for a nice roller or 318 car. Your build sounds exciting I hope you remember to post pics when u get started.

Yeah, I am leaning more and more to trying to find a complete car and not a shell.  But if I did find a stripped car on the cheap I would go that route even though I would be in for the major time consuming issue of shopping for parts.  As for posting pics, you can count on it.  I will certainly need to the advise and experience the forum members offer and if posting pics of my journey draws the attention of you guys who have been there and done it I'm doing it.

If you dont care what model year, stick to 318 powered 73-74's. They are the most affordable barracudas. If you are willing to spend more $$ for a more "done" car i know of a nice 73 Cuda with a big block and 4 speed that could be had for around 15K. complete car with lots of nice parts and all body/paint work done. It's a roller that needs finishing.
