The E body shifter isn't reproduced by Hurst but Brewer's Performance does make it.  I just bought one as my Ebay special was worn out adn rattled.  The E body shifter has 7180 IIRC on the reverse lever.

If it works it works.  :)  I asked the guy at Brewers what the difference is between the B body and the E body shifter.  He something about the shift lever offsets.  Perhaps the B body shifter will work.  If there is an issue it might be with the rods hitting the tunnel.

I have two shifters.   The one out of the e-body with reverse # 6353 (according to brewer this is a A/B shifter), the other one I have is out of a 70 B-body with reverse #7174, this lever is about 1/2" longer thatn the #6353.   :dunno:

I was trying to find a cheap one on eBay.  I think I'll just wait and get it from brewers. It seems that even on eBay the prices are high.

2 different ebody yrs shifters right?  70 is a press fit, so it would be a certain number. Then your 73 is a bolt fit so it is a dif num :dunno:

You can have my old one if you like.  It comes with a disassembled Chebby Hurst shifter.  If you are handy you could probably swap some parts over to tighten it up.  It shifted well but rattled under heavy acceleration. I think part of the rattling was caused by the 1/2 rod touching the tunnel although I didn't discover this until I was installing the new shifter with the boot off.

I've been lucky. I just bid on different Competition Plus shifters on E-bay, With or without handles till I get one.  Then they all seem to work with a pistol grip and the linkage.  Just don't buy any with welded on handles.  I have a welded on handle that I cut off and made a bolt-on style bracket that I welded on to accept the pistol grip. Looks factory UNDER the boot.   Brewers sells the adapter bushings (for the bigger holes on the shifter to match the e-body rods for $5 a piece)
