V Code Superbird at IAA Insurance Auction IT'S BACK!!!
« on: July 30, 2008 - 12:08:10 AM »
I ocassionally look for older cars on their website. Check this out!! It will be interesting to see what it brings.

This car must be posessed, it is back on the IAA website with a scheduled auction date of Oct.30. I find it hard to believ that the ins co. turned down the last bid, so maybe the winning bidder backed out of the deal  :dunno:

Looks like the wing is just a pile of crap on the back of the car.  The nose cone looks kind of useable, maybe.  Not much else to use there.  That thing is severely burnt up.

I would think it makes great yard art if I got it.  I would rework the nose for an ebody or something like that and put the rest in the front yard just to piss off all the passers by.
I just love Superbird yard art!!

That's nice, they have it listed as a Plymouth 4 door sedan.

I'm sure someone with enough time and patience could restore it, but with that severe of a burn I don't know how useable that body is. I would love to have it and give it a shot though, the engine is still in it to whether or not it is numbers matching who knows. I'll bet it clears 10k maybe even 20k.

I will say someone will pay over 20k for it. It will be another month before they actually auction it off.

That's nice, they have it listed as a Plymouth 4 door sedan.

I did hear back in the 80's that there was 1 Superbird 4 door made at the tail end of the 1970 model year.  The idea got scrapped by the Chrysler execs but the prototype did survive, along with a 1972 Hemi Cuda....  :sly:

I say it'll make about $50k... :money:  VINs don't just grow on trees....  :grinyes:

Can that car really be saved?  I wouldn't think so.  Maybe rebodied and the vin tag can be saved but with that kind of heat I would think that every piece of metal on the car has got to be warped.  Someones got to rebody that thing.  Not that that is legal or anything.  I say yardart!!
Any of you ever seen a car burnt that bad come back to life without a rebody??

I don't do body work but if a car is in a fire, the fire isn't hot enough to ,elt the metal.  Warp maybe, but not melt.  If it's warped, it can be straightened, can't it?  :clueless:
