It looks like a bunch of you guys like that aftermarket cable. How easy is it to install?  could you guys that have them be able to take a few picsfor me. I just wonder how everything hooks up to the carb and the trany. I may beable to shell out a few bucks for it.

The idea is to have that kick down arm almost all the way back when the throttle is wide open. Make sure it doesn't inhibit the throttle opening all the way.

Once you put a tall intake on and/or change the relative throttle cable location on the carb the geometry usually goes to hell.  If you run it without the KD arm you will quickly burn the tranny up because it has no throttle pressure. I avoid all that crap and extend the life of the internals with a manual valve body. The harder it shifts the less the clutch pacs wear.
I'm about to put a Eddy Performer RPM Air Gap on my 340. Guess I might as well just go for the aftermarket cable mentioned by Stroker to avoid future problems...?

You can get a taller bracket from mancini.  I got it and ran this setup for now since i was changing the trans but got the Lokar kit which goes right into this tall bracket as well.  I did a little bending to my 1 piece 2bbl setup and it works perfect just looks like he**.LOL

It's an AVS like came on most every Mopar 4 bbl engine in the 60's.

I have an idea.  this is a pic of how far back the kd rod and the throtle on the carb goes.

now maby if I cut into this and made the hole big enough so that I can make the throtle linkage go far back enough.

 :feedback: :feedback:

Just a thought...one of the problems created with the taller intakes is the kick down linkage is too low, with your issue of the linkage being too far forward you could bend the linkage up toward the rear which would effectively shorten it & level it to the carburetor stud.

Here is a pic of the carb end with the kickdown cable and the lokar throttle cable bracket. I don't have a pic of the trans end though, maybe someone else could chime in on that one.

Can you guys get me more pics of that kickdown cable setup.  It sounds nice but I need to know what brackets and other parts I should get to if I did end up getting it.

I put a 1/4" bolt and nut in the slot to adjust the kickdown level with my first Holley.  Was able to adjust the upshift point by adjusting the location of the bolt.

I now have a Cheetah forward shift manual valve body which is a whole lot more fun, allows for second gear burnout starts (saves the overrunning clutch) and eliminates the KD linkage.

See reply number 3 here.  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=47925.0  It's on an Edelbrock but the outcome is the same.

Ok so I ended up pulling out the wallet for the KD cable, then I got a new throtle cable with it.  Along with a bracket.  It only took me a couple of hours to install them and man is it nice.

It was so easy. :cooldancing:.  I was soo motivated I went and finished everything off with my new valve covers.

She runs sooo much nicer now :burnout:. Thanks for the sugestions guys :woo:

I bought mine from Summit Racing. They have a couple of different sizes. Your's looks like it might be 2 inches?   :clueless:  I think it's called a throttle stud, or carburetor stud   :banghead:
