Rocky Mountain 71 Restomod
« on: August 03, 2008 - 11:22:27 PM »
I havn't figured everything out yet as to what I am going to do with the car in the end.  At this point I am going to tear the car down and have it media blasted.  Replace any metal that needs it and go from there.
I have a definite idea as to what I want to do with the car but I will kind of let that plan play out as I use this thread over the next great while as I work on the car.
Anyway, here are some pics from my trip down to Texas and back to Colorado

1st picture is the sunset in Odessa, Texas
2nd is the sunrise just before I got the car
3rd is me and the car sitting next to the great Arkansas river in the high mountains of Colorado
4th is the car next to pinnacle rock in the Arkansas valley, just a good pic
5th is just a good pic again
6th  is the car just as I got it off of the trailer and sitting in my garage where I will be doing my work

The car has the fender tag, vin tag, and the numbers stamped in their proper locations.
I took the seats apart hoping to find the build sheet and there was nothing there.
I still have a few places to be hopeful for like between the gas tank and above the glove box.
Those are about the only places left where they could possibly be.  Probably not but I can hope.
I will list the vin info in a few days,  just in case anyone out there happens to have the build sheet out there.

Oh, I forgot to mention this,

Thanks alot      Cudaguy71     for the purchase of the car.  I sure do appreciate it!!
I hope I havn't messed your name up since you now have a 73!!

And thanks alot to good ole AL, he is the one who saw this and immediately let me know it was out there.
The purchase of this car would not have been possible if Al was not so perceptive and notices everything here.
  Thanks again Friend!!

I havn't posted the original equipment yet.  I will get the tag posted up in a few days.

Anyways, it is a plain jane car with a /6,  3 speed on the floor, no console,  and a 7 1/4 rearend.  Rally red, manual everything.  Bare bones car.  Didn't even have a console for the floor shift.

Sure did Ken,
It will put off the M46 barracuda for a while but that's ok.
I have had the 71 itching under my skin for many more years.
I didn't even know of the M46 until a few years ago but I have been looking for a 71 for over 10 years now.
Yes, I know that 71's sale on ebay and other sites everyday but those are very pricy!!
I guess it took the economy to go to hell for someone to release a 71 at a decent price.

I know exactly what you mean, 71 barracudas have been out of touch for a long while and only now are coming back down to reality with their pricing and affordability. :2thumbs:

It was very nice to meet you and Dan...

I will keep the name, had it for the past 18 yrs.  But time got away from me and if I ever want to drive a 'cuda again I decided I can only restore one car and I have had the 73 for a long time and you saw it is in faily good shape...  I will miss seeing the 71 sitting out there but I know in my heart that it was meant for you to have it...  Be blessed with your 71...

Keep on MOPARin' my friend...

Congrats on the buy!  Can't wait to see your progress on it.  My very first car was a '71 barracuda.

Congrats on the purchase.  Just what I was looking for, a factory slant-6 car.   Do you plan on getting rid of the drivetrain?

Drive train is long gone.  Since it is gone I will be doing something else with it.  Havn't quite decided yet.  I have a 340, a 383, and 3 440's just sitting and waiting for a car.

 :clapping: :woohoo:   Glad to see it is picking up for you. I guess I will just go over the mountain and get your other m46 so I have 2 . Now that your a 71 celebrity and running a big block :smilielol:  Yup big block Josh. It will last longer on the street for the same amount of power from a small block built to run.   Nice deal. Now we need a bunch more pics :2thumbs:
