The Tag may of even been fitted at the end of a shift and fitted to the end of a run for the day with the next supervisor punching a hole to say he had taken over from the last sift...................... Who would really know :dunno:

It is very interesting to findout and try figure out what went on back in the production days :2thumbs:

Well , some seem to  to think that the tags are useless and of no concern.  Some think they are important bits of history.  One seems to maybe have found a tag or two and may have misplaced them or thrown them away and now realize they make a mistake.. :faint: and are claiming they aren't of any value.  Of course it is up the the individual to think what they think.  Personally.........anything attached to the car from the factory should be reattached during the reassembly.  It is still part of the cars soul and  should remain.   Just my opinion.

Was that tag under the fender tag screw?

Obsess over whatever you feel is worthy to obsess over. I'd rather spend my time working to go quicker so I don't ever get drug by a Honda. :working:

I do not think you will have a problem if you are packing a 416 under the hood :burnout: :2thumbs:

yes it was tucked neatly under the fender tag and I did not see it until I pulled the fender tag for restoration.

It sure would have been nice if they had used rivets to put the fender tag on the cars.

These little guys break easy too.

Last summer at a show I saw a man explaining what this inspection tag was and when he touched it it broke off.  I was with friends and didn't stick around to see what happened next.  He may have even been the owner.

The one for my car is in two pieces also.  It will stay in a baggy next to the title.

TropicalCats,

What is the original color ofyour car.  Looks like from the tag it was an FC7, purple car?
I have a friend that says the tag would have been an inspection tag that went on before any of the car components went on.  So pretty much this is a Body inspection tag.  So it went on either with the fender tag just before primer dip and paint.  Not sure though.  No one has definitive proof.  Just everyone thinks it is an inspection tag.
So, every inspector would have had either a stamp or a hole puncher that was custom designed by the factory just for them, this seems a little odd to me.

Yep my car is an FC7 Plum Crazy

The inspection tag wa under the fender tag. Not sure about how the inspectors would have gotten the stamp or punch. Maybe it was a certain punch for a certain part of the line. Wish we had more of the history on it.
