These tags were put one with the fender tag (pre body dip) so the "inspection" may have been for panel alignment. Or?

Some fender tags have an inpectors stamp in them as well that were also pre-paint.

I havn't ever seen a tag with an inspection stamp before.  Were these actual stamps or were they cut outs on the fender tag?

I do not think you will have a problem if you are packing a 416 under the hood :burnout: :2thumbs:

There's some Hondas around where I live doing 11's.

Both kinds. Some plants used the cut out style punch and some did not.

I was just looking at a 70 charger for sale on FBBO and saw the first fender tag cut out stamp I have seen.  Interesting.
Just stamped out where ever.  Didn't line up with anything, just stamped out diagonally.

So, this means that the inspector who stamped this would be the man or woman, who placed the fender tag on the car?
Or would they have taken the fender tag off and placed their stamp or stamp tag under the fender tag and replaced the fender tag?

I hope I am not boring you Barry, seems I am boring 71chally416.

Absolutely,  I am very grateful that there are people out there that have the information that I wasn't around to learn first hand.
Seems there is a little more info to learn here.
A buddy of mine says he remembers reading in an old late 70s magazine a whole article on what these tags meant.  He has like 2000 magazines so he says he will look for it but that might take some time with that many magazines.
He did say he remembers the article stating close to what we are talking about here but there was some extra info so I hope he finds it.

So, this means that the inspector who stamped this would be the man or woman, who placed the fender tag on the car?

Well, not nesisarily. Both item were in place whem the "inspection" happened. The were likely in place before that.

The fender tag for the most part shows items that needed body modifications to match the car's options.

Tachometer ? Body get an extra hole in the cowl.

C55 bucket seats? Four extra holes in the floor pan.

So, the fender tag & inspection tag would have been attached sometime during the "body in white" stage. The inpectors tag would have been stamped after the inspection.

I do not get bored easily. Unless you take me shopping......................
