« on: August 04, 2008 - 10:24:56 AM »
Well, guess it's time I really got started on my 73.  Original 318/904, 8 3/4 Sure-Grip rear 3.55 gears...  I plan to take it mostly back to original.  And just so I don't get  the dreaded worthless without pics...LOL  I have posted a couple to start with...

Looks like a good start. Did you pull the engine - or was it out?
Also looks like you got the qtrs on already....did you do those? Any pics of those?
Good luck!

I pulled the engine and I did the qtrs back in 1997, but don't have pics as I did not have a digital camera then and the poliroid was broke.  I just got my shop built last year and finally got my car moved from NM and now I get to work on it again  :clapping:   I have had this car since 1978, drove it for 18 years, started the restore in 1996, ended up with new job, a couple of moves and now I get to start it again, this time I vow to finish it quickly...

I promise I will post more as I move forward with this...

Great project.  I can't wait to see how it progresses.  You know everyone, including myself, are going to want as many pics as possible.  I just purchased a '73 and will be tearing it down completely so I will be taking some notes on how your doing it.  This will be my first complete rebuild.

Great work.  I'll be watching closely since I'm going to start my 73 this fall also.

Glad to see some work happening to the car.  You've gotten a few things done since I was down there last weekend.

Are you planning on putting the white stripe back on the car?

I myself would love to see a pic of the fender tag.

Were those full quarters that you replaced or were those patch's?

  Were they aftermarket quarters?

Qtr on drivers side was a Paddock part.  Not a full one, just from top of qtr down.  I replaced the lower qtr from body line down on the passenger side which I got from JC Whitney.

haven't decided if I am going with the original stripe or a hockey one.

I usually don't care for the 72-74 stripe but I really do think it looks good on the yellow color, in white of course.   :2cents:  :2cents:

Did you like the JCwhitney part.   Was it better than the paddock?

The JC Whitney part was great as was Paddock's.  At Paddock I could only get a complete qtr so I got the one from JC Whitney cause I was able to buy just the lower half, that way I did not have any waste...

I have been leaning towards a hockey stripe, what do you think?

Picture of fender tag is bad, can't read it much.  I'll try and get a better one...  But here is the readout...
