72 barracuda with 70 440-6 drivetrain
« on: August 06, 2008 - 10:43:45 PM »
Throw some numbers at me, It's a friend of mines

Needs some work on the lower quarters, and tail panel. For the most part it's a pretty solid car. Once in awhile he drives it to shows. Sometimes 4 hrs in one direction. Has a factory 410 dana, hemi 4 spd , ported heads I had done for the engine from Meauxs race engines, original intake and carbs, msd ,  It's not a show car, but a very fun n fast toy. Forged pistons . I think I rebuilt the engine in 91 or so, cant remember. But he did take it to the track once. He is not any type of driver, but still ran like a 12.50 on the tires you see and not hooking. It can be bought. He has to get another dash tag, lost it when he swapped out the dash yrs ago , didnt know he had to keep it. In the process now with the Dot of getting another. cowel, rad, door numbers match. Still looking for the fender tag. Car is registerd and insured with a title to the body numbers already. 72 barracuda 318 4 speed

You know, that sounds about right. :2thumbs:  I know everyone wants a bit more of course, but it seems right. He could pull the original dana and springs and sell them seperate, and install an 8 3/4   and install a 23 spline and remove the 18 spline trans, then put it back to electronic and sell the msd and probably still sell for 18 then sell the other parts to make a bit extra.

Is the Shaker setup and hood factory or repro? Would probably make a difference in the $$$.

I believe it is the original. But he did say he had to buy an nos shaker base for some reason. So the base wasnt original to the shaker system , and I think he has a K&N filter on it.

He should do as you mentioned above Alan, remove all things Shaker esp if its orig stuff and sell the parts.  I think he will make much more in the long run.   :2cents:

 :iagree:

plus, i dont think the shaker was available in 72. So, it may help if it seems more original....

I think he is saying it is a Mopar original instead of a repro set up.  Not original to the car but off of another '70 or '71
'CUDA from back in the day

Yeah, I have been around a bit. Wanna buy an original 72 hemi cuda?   Parts from the totaled car were carried over to the 72. Hadnt seen a factory 410 dana in a 72 yet either. Or an 18 spline for that matter.  I believe I know what Wally was saying too. Some people may not want a shaker on a 72. This is a very fun and fast car that isn't drove much at all. I dont think it has seen 500 miles in 5 yrs. He just goes and cranks it once in a while and maybe drives it over to the local weekend rod events about once every 3 months if that

It's a neat idea though. Everything looks like it was done at the factory.

The dash tag missing is about the only bad thing really

The car will not be sold without a vin tag on it. He is going through the DOT procedures now. And really, it isnt even up forsale listed anywhere. Just pondering. And it is legally titled , licensed insured and driven as of this date. If this was an hp code car it would be a horse of a different color, but a 318 gone BB is just what it is claimed to be.  So if you are riding around in a car looking at the vin as you drive that is different, but for the wow factor, it is fun and legal as it sets. Just not driven much.
