    Pieced together Hydraulic Clutch setup?

    Looking to see if anyone has put together their own kit? with ALL the cars in the world running hydraulic setups, I'd have to think something would be useable without too much trouble. I'd just prefer to start with that, rather than messing around finding all the stock parts/welding the z-bar to the frame, etc, etc. Thanks in advance!  :cheers:

    ..If not, I may have to put my thinking cap on and scrounge the junkyard. Can't imagine it being 'that' difficult to do. Atleast something that doesn't cost $600 for a 'kit'.

    by the time you use the release brg that fits onto the input shaft / brg retainer you will have spent most of that $$ anyway

    Thanks Chryco, but why couldn't someone make up something to push against the stock clutch fork? Rather than using the throwout bearing style? Exhaust and all in the way or something? I haven't peaked my head under a factory 4speed car, so I'm just going off the top of my head.  :wave:

    for something like that, you may want to look into a cable set up. you can fab something for hydraulic, but it may get very interesting. i think that KIA and HYUNDI use that style hyd clutch. may want too look into those. would have to fab a bracket to hold the thing though. they work well too. with one of these styles, as long as you got the bracket right, you may need a longer rod, but if you cut down an engine pushrod and round the cut end into the clutch fork, you may get it to work really well.  :working:

    I doubt a Kia system will take the pressure of a muscle car clutch

    just a thought. maybe toyota or some kindda truck uses it. just a pushrod piece.

    Yea but what about a later ram with manual shift? Maybe a 2500? I bet that would hold up to the pressure of a muscle car clutch..

    I'll do what kind of homework I can and see what I can find out about different systems....if nobody has a 'home brewed' hyd clutch setup..i'll see if i can change that. I need to get a trans and a bell and start playing with things. Basically you need a good enough slave cyl that can handle the pressure of the clutch, a strong enough bracket to the bellhousing to hold the slave, hyd lines and the master. We'll see, ill poke around some!

    Here is the slave cylinder from a 360 1999 Dodge Ram



    Looks like the line would hook up to the rear, get a sturdy bracket to the two bolt holes, and the pushrod into the fork...just an idea!

    Thats pretty much what i was after. the 2500 should handle it. they use pretty heavy clutches. now it is just fabing up a bracket and figuring where to put it. I would think maybe on the bell housing with the bh bolts holding on a large bracket that the slave would bolt to.

    If you used the 99 ram bell housing wouldn’t it bolt right up?   :dunno:

    Magnum bell be the same? May be a little tougher finding a '99 bell..hmm

    It will bolt on to pre magnum small blocks, but I don't know if the 833 trans  will attach to the bellhousing.

    Thanks Hemi, well at the very least I can try and take a look at the magnum bell. Get an idea of how it is setup on there.

    So far I'd bet the 1500 or 2500 slave cylinder would work the bigger clutch.

    Its a start!

    So far i've seen a Raybestos slave cylinder for that application for $63- New

    Clutch master from the ram? Seems to have an external reservoir, could just tap into the brake master cyl reservoir..or find another model with its own.

    Pics found of a interesting setup.. Basically looks like threaded pads welded to a aftermarket bell. Seems simple enough.  :clueless: :dunno:
