71 Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe Decode Question
« on: August 07, 2008 - 11:51:58 PM »
I am currently getting ready to tear down a 1971 Plymouth Gran Coupe for restoration and decoded the fender tag and had a question regarding the A67 code which appears on the 3rd line. My question is: What exactly are Backlite Louvers/Black Backlite Mouldings? There is also a J68 with similar description (Backlite Louvers)on the 5th line. After much thought, I have decided to keep this an original Gran Coupe, as most of these seem to have turned into clone cars. With this being 1 of 161 it would seem the logical choice. Some of the highlights are: EV2 Tor Red, P6X9 Premium/Bucket/Vinyl, Power Brakes, G36 Painted Racing Mirrors, Power Sreeing, Pwr Antenna, V1X Black Vinyl Roof, H31 R Window Defrost, G11 Tinted Glass, C55 Bucket Seats, C26 Consolette, C16 Console, L31 Turn Signal Lite Hood/Fender, J41 Pedal Dress Up, J25 3 Speed Wipers, V5X Black Mldgs/Protective Vinyl/Insert Body Side/Pinstripe on Brracuda/Cuda. etc.
Thanks In Advance for any light you might be able to shed on the subject.
I am new to this site and think it is simply Great!

Rear window louvers on a Challenger shown below. The Barracuda version is similar.

In regards to the A67 code and the backlite moldings, this is the rare textured exterior rear window trim. Along with black vinyl roof and body color racing mirrors and louver :2thumbs:

What code are you seeing for the antenna as there was no such option.

Can you turn off the animation figures; as this is the 5th time I have typed this?
I got the power antenna option under the A04 code in Galens Book. I will look on the original fenders for evidence as the car had fiberglass replacements on it when I found the car. 1 week after picking the car up, I was sent to a Barn to retrieve some parts. It included the front fenders, originall grille ( Minty!) and some new restoration parts. Unfortunetely the window louvers were not there, but there is evidence that they were installed. Any clue were one could find such an item?
I will post some pics on Sunday as I can not find jpg's of the car were it was sitting when I found it.
I will be taking the shell to a freind for metal work in the coming month's. He has an awesome Mopar site. www.69hemi.com
Check it out!

Same thing I am wondering. I have never seeen this stainless trim and would love to see a picture.
Not to mention I would love to purchase a set of the A67.  If that is correct.
Does the textured stainless get painted??  Or would it have stayed silver??

I didn't even realize those were available.  I have had a 69 grand prix that had the same thing but for a vinyl top.
I kept a set so I could do a black out GP.

Does anyone ever see these for sale?
Sure do want a set for my restomod.

  Thanks for the pics.

Were these optioned only on 70-71's ??

From what i have gathered, they were only available when ordered with a vinyl top as an extra and when ordered with the vinyl top louver package.  Gran Coupe mainly as a special order and some 'Cudas as a special order.

Good luck finding some buddy, hard to find and get expensive. :2thumbs:
