RMS Rear suspension.
« on: August 08, 2008 - 09:29:29 AM »
My buddy has been taping the "Cut Chop Rebuild" with a '70 'cuda. Using and RMS package.Anybody watch it? Nice to see Bill and co. on t.v.!  I like the front  AlterKation alot. So,Now I am considering the rear set-up. Anybody seen it? Anybody else considering it? Sorry,I couldn't find pics.I might try and get them off the tube.  It sure looks good. Very interesting. It would be the perfect addition to the "Dream 'Cuda"  And would give me a new goal. Not to mention perform. What are your thoughts?   Thanks Robert.

I am planning to use the alterkation for my front suspension upgrade on my 73 Cuda.  As for the rear I am still researching options.  My goal is to go low.  I like the g-machine/pro touring themes.  I will not cut into the frame but I may doing something with rear wheel wells so she can fit something like a 335/18.  It seems to me that with the airbar 4 link and some tub work it can be done.
To answer your question I am not familiar with the rms package.  Is there a website I could go to?

www.reillymotorsports.com
His rear setup is an air ride airbar setup.
You can get those 335/30/18 in their without doing tub work as long as you cheat the lower four link a little and move it inward. You can do that air ride with airbags or with coilovers. Good idea to start with coilovers and move to airbags later if price is an issue since you only change out the shocks. That goes for the front and the rears. On any kind of protouring I would do a rear air bar with coilovers at the minimum. You gain so much tire room and height adjustability over leaf springs it is defintely worth it.

RMS=reillymotorsports. got it.  I have been to the site.  The car a bought and should have on monday is someone's unfinished project.  The PO removed both full quarters.  So, the first parts I am buying are quarters panels and the airbar set up for the rear.  I quess the stock wells would work but they would probably limit your ability to drop the car if your doing the air ride.

Great addition and a complement to the front coil over and should add balance to your car.
The rear is #3 on my list to change after I get my car on the road. So if you do your's over the winter so I can copy your setup.  LOL

I believe twisted fish  (cuda 340 )already has it on his cuda and   Travis is running it on his also I think.

I have Bill's Alterk-tion and the Air Bar from him. All with coil-overs. I haven't goten it on the road yet but I am back from playing war and I should have plenty of time. Now it is just a money issue! LOL.
I really liked the ease of instalation of both kits.
I wish I would have thought about what size tire I was going to do before I welded the brackets to the rear end. If you move them in you can get more tire. You will have to move the mounting point for the other end of the bar too but it is a small task. I have to redo that part and then I am mini-tubbing.
I just heard Bill came out with a new version of Alter-k-tion with a torsion bar set up! wish I would have waited. The Alter-k-tion has been on my car for almost three years and I haven't driven it once. :(

There also is the Lateral Dynamics three link with a number of options that offer a more adjustable set up than the RMS Street Lynx.

Thanks HP2 !!  Hadn't seen that.   What do you like about it in comparison?   Any down sides to the RMS.  So.. It's called the "street lynx"?    I just saw the RMS and thought it would match up good to the front. What would you suggest for me?  Anybody know a price?  Thanks all,  Robert.

that's a new rear!
Some kind of independent rear setup. Hadn't heard that yet for the Mopars from RMS. That picture is not the air bar setup.

It's on "Chop Cut Rebuild"  They are doing a blown hemi car. RMS all the way around. I can't stop thinking about it,Picturing it up under there...   It's pretty slick looking!   I'm waiting on a price from Bill. Hoping to try and get it this winter.  I would really like to do something like this.  It would make a great project for me. Robert. :2thumbs:

Thats Funny  :smilielol: :smilielol:  :poopoke:
I wish I could do that...

I saw the one today about all the goodmark stuff I will have to catch the reruns for the rear end setup.

I do know bill was playing with independent rear suspension for that viper-powered challenger that Matt Delany built.
I didn’t think he was offering it to the general public . :dunno:

take lots of pictures robert it looks cool I wonder if he will make it a bolt in peice.

To me it looks like there are some mounts that need to be welded on the frame.  :clueless:   Hard to see. Do you think those webbed pieces bolt into the old shock mounts?
