Rear frame repair parts
« on: August 08, 2008 - 01:17:53 PM »
I remember reading somewhere about a company that carries rear frame rail repair kits for 70 E bodies, but I can't remember where. Does anybody know??? All I could find was www.safetcap.com. I need repairs around the rear leaf shackle area. Does anybody know????? :clueless:

I think it's Auto Rust Technicians - the makers of Safe-T-Cap.

Thanks..it's the same part from both places. I guess I will get them there. It kinda sucks that they are 30" long when I only need about 5" by the shackle mount.

Have you ordered body parts from those guys. I just looked and the floor panel are cheaper than usual. I'm sure they are not as good as Goodmark or Auto Metal Direct--or are they???

I have bought from them and a few members here have also(RT Hedkace)and I think they are a Goodmark dist. You Could give them a call or pm Dave from Roseville auto and see if he carries them?I usually buy my sheetmetal from them(A.B.S.) at swap meets or go and pick it up so I can inspect it first,I am only about 45 minutes from their store.

We do have full frame rails and just the rear 32 inch repair section. I would not recommend the caps as they really do not fix the problem. here is a link if your interested. we do give members discounts thanks in advance

The caps weld over the exisiting rails, but they do completely replace the shackle mount which is where my problem is. Maybe not as good a a new rail, but close with much less work involved. IMHO

Check ebay thats where I got mine.  I think it was 325 for the pair.  They fit fairly easy and looked nice.
