The 1039 is 0,010 thicker and has a bigger bore (116,586) which adds volume to get my comp down.

Question, why isn't there any gasket included for the oilpump in the big set from felpro?

Got the headgaskets today so I can continue during the weekend. Now it's also time to determine TDC while the intake is off.
Camlobes cyl 1 is all in "rest", both valves closed, camlobes cyl 6: exhaust valve closing and intakevalve will start to open.
Rotor should now point at sparkplugcable cyl 1?

On a small block drop in the oil pump timing gear a little early and let it fit down so the slot faces #1 as you found TDC #1. Tehn the distributor will point out as desired. It could be a tooth off but you will know by the crank rotation to valve action.

yes the engine should now be firing #1 cyl so the rotor is point where you want #1 to be on the cap , actually if you rotate the engine back about 20* & line up the reluctor & pick up the timing will be set & it will fire right up

yes & no , both 1&6 should be at TDC at the saem time so only the cam determines which one is firing

Ready for installation but I think I will keep it on the stand, nothing can go wrong then.  :thinkerg:
