71 Challenger trunk braces were different, they only had one trunklid torsion rod. (whatever its called)
I will look to be sure tomorrow. Without looking I am pretty sure the braces are the same for all years. In 70 a 2 torsion bar system was used and was replaced by a one rod system in 71 up.  This makes it an easy swap to go from 2 bars to one or the other way around.

You cant just change it from a single torsion bar system to a 2 bar system without changing the support braces. And I believe its a single torsion bar system in 71 only.

Didn't bid too high. Was hoping to get a feel for my cars value. Although it's apples to oranges the wild paint is the same theme.

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea so to speak. But there are people out there who appreciate those old school paint jobs. Personally I would never paint a car like that but I did buy one like that.

I can't say I like all those old school paint jobs but growing up remember some of the crazy one's in the late 70's and 80's. I guess part of seeing them reminds me of my youth. The more geometric lines of the Challenger on ebay and mine are closer to late 70's and early 80's stuff. Mine was painted in the very early 80's that I know of.

I thought it was a one rod system in the 71 up Ebodys. I must have been thinking Bbodys. I mainly have 1970's so I had to find some newer ones. I was able to get pics of a 71 and a 73. They are both 2 rod systems. The 71 is original right down to the paint.
The trunk  torsion bars can not be used as a reference to figure out what year this car or any car is or can they be used to to determine if the car is a rebody.

I don't know, perhaps I like colors and candy and that reminds me of a candy shop. I'd own any of the 3 posted in this thread in a heartbeat.  Heck I'd even paint mine up like that if I could (or get it done for cheap) but because I can't I won't.  I'd buy one but not for that kind of money.
