Have you tried adjusting the hinges? If there is a little play, I would try adjusting the hinges to see if you can get the latch/striker to line up. My car has body side mouldings so that helped lining up things. I adjusted the hinges and the doors close well. I didn't have too much play to begin with...
Hey Super Blue 72...
I know this is a very old thread...but i wanted to chime in and say "THANKS!" for this post....it saved me a ton of work!
My passenger door was hitting the striker and hanging low ...would line up fine when you closed the door, but it was rubbing pretty hard to get it closed....
I checked my pins when the door was about halfway open and the lower pin IS worn some....but noticed that when the door was almost closed I couldnt feel any movement.....
So I went ahead and tried your way first.
It worked great! One not to folks -- there are two external bolts on the top and then the bottom hinge where it mounts to the car...but there is ALSO two bolts going from the inside out of the car....you have to remove the kickpanel to get to them.
I lucked out here.....I loosened all 4 and then held the door up while the wife cranked the bolts inside down....that held it in place enough to then swing the door out and tighten them all down.
A little readjustment of the striker also and now the door closes and opens GREAT!
Thanks again!
This place rocks!
