Ok, FINALLY, pics of our 70 chally vert!
« on: August 08, 2008 - 10:08:02 PM »
Finally got around to getting some pics of the new addition to the family.  My mom and dads 70 Chally vert.  The car is a numbers matching car with build sheet.  Vehicle is an original white exterior with red interior car.  Conv. top is currently white but according to the build sheet, was originally black.  We are planning on returning the car back to factory conditions and appearance.    The engine is a numbers matching 318 that was bored .30 over with an unknown cam in it.  Sounds mean as hell though with the headers.  The headers will be replaced with factory cast iron exhaust manifolds though.  The trans is the 904 auto and does seem to have a shift kit.  As far as options go, the car has the light package with fender mounted turn signal indicators, power convert. top, manual windows, manual drum brakes, power steering, am with 8 track, and an original space saver spare.  The car is a factor red interior car which from what I have heard is fairly rare.  Hopefully Barry from the T/A registry can chime in.  Anyway, here are some pics.

more pics....

In the second pic, can someone help us out with what that hole is in the steering column by the green arrow?  It is not a hole for the column shifter as it is a round hole, not a oblong hole like the one a shifter would go in.  Please let us know, thanks for the help and enjoy the pics.

Sweet rides.

That chally really stands out with the red interior.  Match's great with the tail lights.
What color is the top??  Probably white?

That interior really stands out great, I just love that.

  thanks for the pics.

The chally is an original Factory red interior and factory white exterior.  The convert top was originally black according to the build sheet but right now it is white and appears to have been that way for quite some time as it is showing wear with small tears and such.  Dad has a new white one to go onto it soon as we find a competant top person.

Jackie -

We have only YOU to thank for this find!  This was the car that you told us about from the carolinas that was on Craigslist.

This is my favourite color combo for an E-body convertible and they are super rare in this color combo and when found they are reffered to as tri-color combo.  Would be awesome to see the Black roof put back on

Brian, I'm glad everything worked out.  :2thumbs: Shelby told me to tell you that the Chally is beautiful. She loves the color combo, too. Have fun with it.

Tell her thanks.  I will be sure to pass it on to my dad and mom.  It will be out in Carlisle next year along with my charger since the charger is turning 40. :jumping:  Dad is planning on fixing it up to be the level that the elky and charger are yet still retain the chally as a touring car too.  I will say one thing, the little car is fast.  The guy who built the engine was a retired engine builder for a nascar team down south close to where we got the car from.  Dad had to send out the radio to get it repaired.  Found someone who seems to be really good.  Wards radio repair who seems to know a bunch of stuff about E body radios and mopars.  We are awaiting return on that to get some tunes into the car.

Brian, The hole your talking about. I think that's where my key release is. I don't have the Chally here so I can't go out to check. But I pretty sure.  :clueless:  I don't know if 70's had the key release.  :dunno:  I guess we'll see you at Carlisle next year. Shelby wants to have the Super Coupe driveable. It just depends on her college expenses to what we can afford. If not the Chally and pink Daytona will be there.

My car is a 70 4 speed and has the same hole in the steering column . Not knowing for sure I always thought it was for the key release since mine is missing . Your car being a auto on the floor they may have used the same column . Or not ?
