ok, the story on my new love...
2 winters ago my fiance and i were talking about how i wanted a cuda again. so i casually looked but couldnt find anything that struck my fancy. not long after i kinda gave up on the hope of replacing the cuda i sold a few years ago. then, the night before my birthday(november 27) were climbing into bed and she asks me if i was still craving a cuda. it had been about 2 monthes since i last looked for one and i told her id love to have one but i just wasnt having any luck finding one i thought id like. then she rolls over to her night stand and pulls out a key...an old plymouth key! she says "i found one youll like!" i about crapped the bed when she said this! so the next day we drove out to where my new toy was sitting. it was owned by a 30 something year old lady who said she bought it as a project and never got around to it. the car was 100% complete and was fairly rust free(from what it looked like!). so we dragged the car up onto the trailer and brought my car home (i know, shes the best damn girlfriend money can buy! haha!!) so as soon as the car rolled off the trailer and into my garage we got to work on it. out came the interior, which revealed more rust than i thought was present. my feet went through the floor! so then it was time to move on to stripping the paint. which revealed another ugly problem, the quarters which i thought were solid were certainly not! some time ago a makeshift body man must have thought it was correct to weld a new quarter over the old one without removing the old one first! then layer in about 1/2 inch of bondo and paint 'er up! typical mud and shine job. as i started to tear up some of the trunk my frame rails started to peel up with it! ok...so the car that i though would be a fairly reasonable resto is now a full blown resto job! hey, at least the motor and tranny are good...right? no sir, we got the car started and went to drive it out of the garage and as luck would have it, the trans is shot. after all this, my fiance and i sat down and came up with a game plan for the car.
-340 six pack shaker with a 4 speed
-lime lite green (she wants panther pink but i really dont want that color! it is my car!)
-black interior
-black billboard
-71 grill, tail light panel, quarters and fenders with gills
the rest well figure out as we go. but i really want a 71 car so im gonna make this one that you cant really even tell its a 73. i got some very good deals at carlisle this year, like a 71 grill that needs a little repair for 160 bucks! i got full oe quarters for it for 800 bucks for the pair. got a repop shaker setup for 275 bucks. plus a few other really good deals on tail lights and floors. so the transformation begins! heres a few shots and hopefully ill keep up the progress so everyone can see whats happening with it and pass some tips my way! here she is the day we brought her home!
