As would I. But it's always a personal decision. How do you want to do it. Where it becomes the issue is when your car is different than what the specs say. Dave had to address this issue when he restored his car. He chose to do it with how the car was made, not what the drawing said. When I redo my pink car I think that I will opt to go the other way and add the cowl blackout (as per the drawings), even though it did not get built that way.
What I think Dave is saying, Dave please correct me if I'm wrong, is that absent CLEAR AND CONVINCING documented evidence (photos) from the previously unmolested car being restored, you go with the engineering drawings.

 :crazy: I thought ECS was the owner, well nice car. Im not in the league of owning "concours" cars but i try to learn all of the "correct" ways that i can. Most of us wouldnt know half of the material if it werent for people who went above and beyond in restos. Nice Car. I havent had a bad experience with any solid members here, I do understand how things can be misread online though. I hope we're all calmed down now...  :drunk:
