Yeah since nobody in MOPAR land seems to care about the 71 Challenger and they don't make any tailights for them, I have been buying all the cheap ones I can get my hands on so that I'll have one nice set for my car.

Shoot, you've probably got a couple of good sets already.  Aa long as they are not all cracked up all you need to do is hit them with some heavy duty rubbing compound and then micro-fine compound and they will look as good as new.

Still haven't had a chance to go to the DMV, its been crazy around here. Just been collecting parts, I think the UPS man is coming here weekly.

wow man i remember last year i was sturggling to find quality affordable parts for my 71 challenger... the way i think about it ... if your not gonna restore your car and want to get rid of the parts sell them for reasonable prices or put them up for bids lol i was able to get me a pair of tail lights for 20 bucks a piece and they were flawless ...

Little update. Removed the rear bumper crossmember so that I can make a new one. Removed the trunk latch brace because I needed to fix the giant dent in it and need to repair the bottom. Also removed the trunk torsion bar.

What is this bolt hanging down?

Judging from it's position, I would say it's a tail pipe hanger bolt.
Nice progress on the car. Keep , motivated! I know it gets intimidating, but a slow and steady pace wins the race.

Hey, be careful working on that car useing those blocks. The one pic has the blocks leaning. And the bolt looks like maybe a transmount bolt or a trans cross member bolt.

Don't worry Al the bottom block is sunk into the ground about 2-3 inches. The ground slopes downward a little so it just looks worse than it is. Why would there be a transmount bolt in the rear frame rail on both sides? What is this bolt? Does anyone else have these?

It probably just fell through a hole in the trunk and into the frame rail. Or possibly  a muffler shop somewhere in the past had a hanger bolted there.   Don't worry about it, it does not belong there.
