Not that there are not carburetor issues but if putting the vacuum advance into FULL advance at idle HELPED does that not tell us that there are distributor & or timing issues that need to be addressed?

With the FBO setup they say full (non ported) vacuum. Everyone said that is wrong so I asked Don again and that's what he recommends. :dunno: Note, that is with their recurve in the distributor though.

I have to give it a lot of gas out of first or it will bog real bad.  It runs well at cruise and wot.  It's obvious he overcompensated for something else wrong.  It has to be a combination of carb tuning and timing along with distributor curve.  I want to do it by the book but my brother-in-law has helped me at least be able to drive it as it was basically undrivable before.  I will let him have his way for awhile and see what happen as I'm not worried at the moment about mpg or 1/10 seconds at the track.  I'll keep you informed.  Interesting that the books say one thing and other "experts" say another.

I have never had any sucess using the vacuum the way FBO suggests , it seems to better to not use the vacuum advance at all
